I have read that you can take a short cab ride or a long walk to Small Smith Cove public Beach in Grand Cayman. Has anyone gone to the public beach rather than taking a beach excursion? I have also read about the Seven Mile Beach. Is that a public beach also or is it an excursion beach? Thank you in advance for all your helpful information.

Most beaches DCL has excursions to you can go to on your own (For a LOT less money!!). I keep hearing great things about 7 mile beach. If we make it back to GC I'm going to Sting Ray City AND 7 mile beach!!:wave2:

We cruised in May and went to Seven Mile Beach on our own in Cayman. As soon as you get off the ship there will literally be a line of cabs waiting to take you to the beach. I think we went to the beach in front of the Holiday Inn. It's a public beach with bathrooms, a small restaurant and outdoor bar, and facilities to rent jet skis, snorkel equipment, etc. It is BEAUTIFUL there!! You can walk down a little ways to get away from the crowds. There is a reef right off the beach there for snorkeling though. The coral is mostly dead, but we did see a lot of cool fish. I think the cab ride was $7/person each way.

Have fun!!

AladdinsPrincess,

When you went to the Seven Mile Beach were there beach chairs for you or did you have to take a towel to sit on? Thanks for all your help!!

No, I don't remember seeing beach chairs. You can take beach towels off the ship though.

If anyone else has been to Cayman - there were two other stops along 7-mile Beach that the cabs stopped at - maybe one of them had chairs?

I'm glad to help!
