Hi all,

First time in Grand Cayman in February. Any recommendations for a good beach? Just DH and I. Don't mind doing it through Disney Port Adventures. We would like somewhere where we can grab a beach chair. TIA

Our last trip to Grand Cayman we had booked one of the DCL excursions to Rum Point - it sounds like a great place to hang out for the day.

Unfortunately I am unable to give it a review because we could not stop there, the waves were going over the tender docks. And on my prior 3 trips to GC we snorkeled at many different locations off of boats / catamarans.

On our recent cruise we had booked Tiki Beach through DCL so I never bothered doing any research. As it turned out, the day before GC we were notified the excursion got cancelled due to lack of participation. I was at a loss of what to do.
In chatting with a fellow cruiser at the bar, he mentioned his wife had done all sorts of research and they were going to Royal Palms. So upon arriving in Grand Cayman, we took a chance, got off the ship and got in a cab. The driver mentioned there is another free, public beach a bit further down, but we decided to stick with Royal Palms and we were happy we did. It's a nice beach, with clean amenities, and a nice bar/restaurant. The chairs and umbrellas did cost extra, but they were worth it. I'd go there again.

We went to Royal Palms last year and reserved a private cabana. The beach was nice and had a great view of the ship. The service was a little disorganized but nothing catastrophic. The sand and water was very crowded, though, and the other parties that were in the cabana section were more adult oriented with some college age girls doing some dancing that was not very family friendly. We had our two kids ages 8 and 6 at the time.

We took a taxi there and the driver was suggesting another beach that was free but we already had our cabana reservation so didn't get to check it out. We would have preferred a less busy spot and will seek one out if we get back to GC.

I've read that one of the resorts along 7 mile beach offers a day pass so that may be another option to check out.

I have been to Royal Palms. It was a 4$ per person shared taxi ride from the port to the Royal Palms Beach Club. 2$ to get in... I think it was 10$ to rent a chair and 15$ to rent an umbrella (Dh and I rented a cabana for 125$... Entrance fees are covered, it doesn't compare to Cabanas at Castaway Cay, it's just a tent on the beach but it gave us shade and we had a table with 4 chairs and 4 lounging chairs included, and there were server taking our orders regularly).

Beautiful beach. Loved it. Excellent service by the staff. Good food.

I would highly recommend. 22491814_10156008655224252_4345752058854908981_n.jpg 22519073_10156008655404252_3674904391652032963_n.jpg 22519435_10156008655789252_9046999530092165468_n.jpg 22539662_10156008655584252_3712475314816423599_n.jpg 22555167_10156008654864252_6687247451997387718_n.jpg

We rode the bus (think van) to Public Beach at 7 Mile Beach and hung out at the beach bar/café that was a few steps from Tiki Beach. The place we went rented chairs and umbrellas and had food and drink available. It was easy and cheap to ride the bus and the beach was fantastic. Tiki Beach looked like a nice place and would be easy to get to on your own.

OK, I looked up the name of the place where we went. It is now called Calico Jack's. It looks the same as it did 4 years ago. It's a none too fancy beach bar where you can rent lounge chairs and umbrellas. I think if I was going to go back to Grand Cayman on a cruise, I would go somewhere a little nicer, like Tiki Beach.

We have taken Disney's Rum Point adventure a couple of times. It is probably my favorite beach ever! The food is great. It is seldom crowded and it is very tropical feeling. It is nice for small children because the water entry is very gradual. You can rent jet skis if you want but you seldom see one in the water. We are going again over Christmas and have already booked it again! :)

The whole 7 mike Beach is open to you. There are different areas onnit. You can book excursions through Disney, you can book day resort privileges with hotels, and you can just cab it (or take the public bus) to a beach or your choice. We were going to do that for tiki beach, but we all slept in and everything was delayed so much we didn’t have the chance to do that after the other things we did.

We took a cab (which was more like a huge van/bus) to Public Beach and had lunch at Calico Jacks. I think chair rental was $8. Food was great, drinks were good, we bought a fresh coconut from a local who was cutting them. The beach was beautiful. My friend did the Disney beach excursion the same day and spent a lot more money and had less time on the beach.

We had a day room at the Westin Resort and it was worth every penny ! Beautiful beach, good food, nice room to use for bathroom visits and showering and changing before heading back to ship.
