We are on the Western 7 day, and the Rum Point Beach Adventure is already sold out.(We aren't cruising ubtil 4/12). Has anyone gone to the beach on their own? We're looking for a place with chairs, possibly rentals, and a snack bar would be nice. Any suggestions?????

I have the same type of question.
Is there a hotel on the beach that will
allow a day time use ?

Last July we took a taxi to 7 Mile Beach - asked to be dropped off at the Holiday Inn - we actually found out while we were there that this is the same beach area that the DCL beach excursion goes to. The taxi was $4 pp each way. It was about a 10-15 minute ride. There were chairs and umbrellas to use, snack bar and liquor bar and rest rooms right there. There were beach barmaids to take orders or you could go up and sit at tables. It is a very nice, clean beach. We snorkeled a bit, only saw smaller fish, but it was still fun. We probably spent about 4 hours total there and had a wonderful day. Taxis were lined up right at the beach entrance to take people back to the ship. Would definitely do it the same way next time.

Thanks for the info., this is exactly what I was looking for. My youngest daughter is only 6, and most of the other activities aren't geared for 6 yr. olds. Thanks again....

My nephew was with us who was 6 also - my sister-in-law brought along a swimming vest for him and he had a great time floating around, trying to snorkle, playing in the sand, etc. The water and tides were very calm when we were there. I am sure you will have a wonderful day. Enjoy!!

WE did Holiday Inn beach last Tuesday...little piece of Paradise...get a "Bumping Banana" drink...Yuummmm!

How are the crowds at 7 mile beach if you are dropped off by the Holiday Inn?

I checked the free beaches link but would like to hear from past cruisers of other alternatives. Only requirements: clean, bathroom, drink and/or food. Not interest in snorkeling or watercraft rentals. Any help???

The crowds were great in July, 2002 - no problem at all in getting a chair, umbrella, etc. The facilities were very clean. The beach is not very wide, but clean and beautiful. We did arrive by 10:30 a.m. and stayed til about 2:30 p.m., but at no time did it get very crowded. I didn't see any type of snorkling equipment rentals - we did a little snorkling, but we had brought our own equipment with us.
