The Grand Californian is a beautiful hotel that has the best location of any of the three Disney hotels. It has its own entrances to Disney's California Adventure and Downtown Disney and is within fairly close walking distance of either Disneyland's front gate or the monorail, which can take you into Tomorrowland.
It has nice "Disney" touches without being too cartoony. High class without being too stuffy.
If you get a theme-park view room, you can sit on your balcony and watch guests of DCA enjoy their visits. These rooms provide great views of the Grizzly Peak area or of Pardise Pier. Downtown Disney views allow you to open your window and enjoy the music of the area and see people coming and going from the theme parks. Courtyard views allow you to see the Monorail cruising through the wings of the hotel.
White Water Snacks is a great place to grab a quick bite and relax for a little while. Storyteller's is a great upper-moderate sit-down restaurant. Napa Rose can be enjoyed with a fine meal or a nice dessert.
While any of the Disney hotels are a nice getaway, I love the GCH the most. If you can afford the splurge, I highly recommend it.
Ah, just six hours ago I was sitting in the lobby of the Grand Californian, reading my book and listening to the piano player, while waiting for Super Shuttle. So sad to be back home and headed back to work.
Thank you all so much. We will be there for just one night on Saturday, but I can't wait. In the Disneyland book that I am reading it says to do CA on Saturday and Disneyland on Sunday. Any thoughts?
