I was wondering if it's possible to book the villas at the Grand Californian 7 months out? We are looking at going during June (next year) or December but not any peak weeks, they would all be during Choice season. Any help/advice is greatly appreciated.

Hard to say. Just make sure you call as early at the seven month window as you can. I think the Villas at Grand California are harder to come by since it's the only DVC resort at Disneyland and has fewer rooms then most other DVC resorts.

We are currently waitlisting for the Grand California and I'm not holding my breath.

We went in July of 2010 and called a bit past the 7 month window. We were able to get a 1 bedroom although we had to change our dates by a day. Also there were no studios still available. We were doing a 4 night stay Monday-Thursday.

The key I would say is to be sure to call exactly at 7 months and hopefully your chances will be pretty good. If not waitlist and hopefully by WL so early it will come through.

Good Luck and I hope it works out for you. The VGC at awesome!! :thumbsup2

I was able to book the GCV at the 7 month mark for this August. I got a 1 bedroom for 4 nights. The studios seem to be pretty hard to get unless you book at the 11 month mark from what I've heard.

We have booked in late June both last year and this year. Last year, we booked in January and were able ot get a 2 BR for 3 nights after a 1 day WL (1Br was available). This year we called exactly at 11 months for a 3 night stay and could book 1 studio for a Thursday night arrival but not a second one. I called the next day and was able to book 2 studios for a Friday night arrival.

Stays early in June should be easier to get as most schools in CA don't let out until mid-June. However, Summer Nightastic usually doesn't start until mid-June (it is starting earlier this year due to LM and ST2) and Carsland may not be open then. December can be busy, especially the first weekend when CP is held. -- Suzanne

Just make sure to understand that "peak weeks" for DL and "peak weeks" for DVC aren't the same. DVC can be hardest to get into during choice & adventure seasons.

There are only 48 villas so being flexible in terms of dates and villa size helps tremendously.

If Saratoga Springs is 75% booked by owners at 7 months, there are still over 200 rooms available. If the Grand Californian is 75% booked, there are only about 12 rooms left for non-owners. Not much availability for 150,000+ non-owners at VGC.

During high demand periods--which do not necessarily correspond with peak crowds at the parks--there may be nothing left at 7 months.

And I would only expect demand for VGC to increase next year as Carsland opens.

Getting a room is certainly possible but flexibility is strongly encouraged. Don't go booking any airline tickets until you have a room.

At exactly 7 months, we were able to book a 1 bdr for two days (Sunday, Monday) in July. My guess is that the weekends will be very difficult, as will the studios.

As it turns out, we will be cancelling that reservation so someone on a waitlist will be happy!

We got a 1br for 7nights in May, including Mother's Day weekend at the 7 month mark. While there are no guarantees, it seems that 7 month bookings are not impossible.

We got a studio for June 1st for 5 nights at about 6 months out. We also got 5 nights in May 2010 at 7 months.
