For our trip this fall, we want to stay in one of the on-site hotels, but the question is...GC or DLH? From what I've read and seen, the GC is a little more luxurious, but the DLH is more theme oriented. There will be 4 or 5 adults (but kids at heart) on our trip and it would be the first time any of us stayed on site. Any pros or cons (if any) of each would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Can only reply about the Grand Californian.

Just stayed there last week. Loved every minute of it and would go back right now if I could.

You will NOT be disappointed!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tough call.

DLH is kind of part of the "original", and there is defintely more Disney theming at the resort and more of a Disney feel. There is plenty for adults with Hook's and Granville's, and fun spots at the Neverland pool and Goofy's Kitchen.

GC is more "adult resortish", with less of a Disney theme - more of a nice resort feel to it. As you say, you get more of a luxurious (though I wouldn't describe the style as luxurious - it's arts and crafts) feel at GC. You can almost feel like you're not at Disney at GC. GC is also less than 5 minutes to being inside DCA.

We've done both, and are looking at a tough decision the next time we visit.

If money is no object, I would go for the GC. It's significantly closer to both parks and is simply lovely. But do find the time to go over to the DLH for a stroll and perhaps a meal.

If I'm not mistaken, one advantage that DLH has over GC is that the rooms are a little bigger.
