Hi :) we have stayed at the GCH a few times in pretty much every "view" category. I am trying to make reservations for July and they now have multiple view levels and prices and I was wondering if anyone knew exactly what those views are. I have called reservations and they haven't been able to really discern it for me either. I have looked through the GC thread too :)

So there is

Standard: parking lot/front of hotel
Courtyard/Woods: basically the Brisa courtyard area
Deluxe Park: this is one I am unsure of...where exactly are these (is this the view of the Park over by the condor flats area where trees obstruct everything?)
Partial Downtown Disney view: ? again what is partial and what is full? (would this be lower DTD view rooms?)
Downtown Disney view: we have done DTD view the most and the price is now as much as theme park view which is hard to believe
Theme Park: Theme park obviously :)

Thank you for any answers you may have!

Funny, I was just trying to figure that out too!

Interesting too that those options change if you go get a "package" through the disney site. Then there's a flat "Downtown Disney" option (expensive as the deluxe DTD view on Hotel Only)

Maybe Deluxe Park is of the Disneyland Park? Do they have rooms that better overlook that? I'm guessing partial DTD is maybe the rooms towards the edged of DTD, maybe something partially in the way of the view?

I really would like my DTD view room (like I usually get) but MAN those prices may be too much!

ding-ding-ding--someone give tigerlily a gold star! That is pretty much it. I have stayed at GC 4 times now, and have concluded that their views are just a big bag of meh. Yes, it is nice to sit out on your balcony watching the world go by with at DTD view, but---it isn't super great. This is due to the height of the hotel (which is very short and low slung, resulting in bad viewage). I personally love Disneyland Hotel views--simply because you can pay for a high tower view and get it--over the pool or over Disneyland. With GC, you get a slight view, but that isn't the biggest tool in the shed for them. They seem to be all about location and dark, small rooms--which apparently some people love beyond all reason! :goodvibes I am much more of a high tower light-filled hotel room lover, so the goodness is lost on me.

I was told when I called and asked that a partial DTD view meant it was on a lower floor or in some other way had an obstructed view. The same is true for Deluxe as opposed to Premium views--deluxe would be in the same areas (pool and theme park) but on floors 1-3 or in areas that have limited visibility.

Honestly, the views are not worth the money IMO. I agree with Lisa on that one! I love having a view, don't get me wrong--but at GCH, there just isn't that great a view to be had for the price they charge you. I like to go a step above basic, because I really do dislike a parking lot view, but I care more about my location in the hotel (I hate being in one of those rooms that require a long long long walk to the elevators) than the view I get. Oh, it's nice to hear the music and see pieces of the park, but it's just not worth the increase in price to me.
