Grand Californian room requests

How far in advance should a room request be made? I have a 4 night stay starting February 13, 2024 and I'm wondering if I'm too late to have a chance. The room was booked by a friend and put in my name. I assume the owner needs to make the request?

DVC points used for the room, through your friend? If so, the owner should make a request on your behalf through Member Services (chat, email, call) - and they can put the request(s) on the reservation now. But it should be done at least a week or 2 in advance. And we've found that room requests at GC, since it's relatively small, are difficult to get most of the time. But it never hurts to ask!
