Grand Californian Room Questions

I've been looking at the rooms at the GCH and it says they sleep 5, but the room descriptions just say 2 queens or a queen and a bunk bed. What does the 5th person do?? I'm also wondering if the dressing area is separate from the shower area?

TIA!

I had called Disney with the same question, they told me that the 2 queen beds room has a day bed in it. But the bunk bed room does not and they will give you a sleeping bag for the 5th person..

The rooms that have a queen and a bunk bed set do sleep 5. The bunkbed actually has a third bed (trundle bed) that pulls out below the bottom bunk. Keep in mind that the bunkbeds are definitely designed for child sized people. An adult could possibly sleep on the trundle bed (our teenage daughter did). The bathroom area with the locking door includes a toilet and a tub/shower. The outer area includes the sink/mirror area. The rooms are definitely not big. There is not alot of drawer space. I could not unpack the suitcases into drawers for our family of 5. We did love the hotel, the service, the special CA entrance and our balcony. We are now spoiled from wanting to stay anywhere else at Disneyland.

I just want to point out that not all rooms with 2 queen beds have sofas... in fact they are extremely rare and can't guaruntee (sp?) it, they won't even guarntee(still can't spell it) a sleeping bag, but I can't imagine they run out of those very often. Also if you have a theme park view room, you will not have a sofa bed with 2 queen beds, they don't exist in those rooms.... so you can request a sofa bed in a city view room, but I would have a back up plan or someone willing to bed down on a sleeping bag :)

I agree w/kcchica. If you have 5 people & want to stay at the GC, be prepared that one of you may sleep on the floor in a sleeping bag - the rooms with the daybeds are not guaranteed. The bunk beds are for kids, and the trundle for those maybe 4 & under.

I'm really surprised that they don't tell you more information about the rooms on the DL website. If I hadn't questioned, I probably would have made my ressies online and never thought to ask. When it said it sleeps 4 adults and 1 child, I figured that means everyone gets a bed. We'll be looking at other options now.

I think your best bet is to call the hotel reservation lines and grill them... I don't know much about the bunk beds, but have read over and over again they are definitely for children adn good-sized teenagers would have a problem with them... but maybe more of those are available and might be able to confirm rooms with bunk beds... not sure I have never inquired about them.

I saw a picture of the bunk beds and it is definitely not full sized.

So is it extra for the bunk bed rooms? How do you request one if you want? We will be there this weekend and I just asked for 2 queens. We have a 3 year old (who might like a bunk bed) and a baby (i requested a crib). By the way, does anyone know if they have cribs or pack and plays at the GC??

Thanks.

The bunk bed rooms are the same price -- you can request them when you check in, & you can call ahead of time and ask for them. Their # is (714) 635-2300. All rooms come with a pack & play in the closet - you need to bring your own bedding, though.

Here's a pic of the bunk bed. Those are my kids back when they were 12 & 13, I think. My son is about 5'3", and is too long for the bed. (I'm 5' & fit there perfectly.) You can see the trundle at the bottom.
