Has anyone been able to get a date on when the pools will reopen? We are booked at the GC the 2nd week of May. I've called probably a dozen times and the CMs are vague about the date. One told me 4/30 so the 2nd week in May should be open. I have a backup booked at the DL hotel, but we'd prefer the GC. I called this morning and the CM said "late Spring."

Last date I saw posted here was 4/22...still hoping that's true. I bet you'll be fine by 2nd week of May. I'm going last week of April though and taking my nieces (w/ my kids) for their first stay at GCH, so really really hoping to hear it's opening soon!

On 4/4 we got the dreaded email about our upcoming stay. It had this paragraph:

Beginning January 3, 2017, the Fountain Pool, Mariposa Pool and Redwood Pool, including whirlpool spas, Children’s Pool and cabanas, will be unavailable until later in the spring. During this time, we invite you to make a splash in any of the pools at our Hotels at the Disneyland® Resort.

I spoke with a GCH operator yesterday who confirmed no date yet and lots of heavy work still underway. I had already given up on it when I saw some photos a couple weeks ago. If we ever had a slight chance, I think it was crushed by the heavy rains that caused them to tarp off the entire area after the pool deck was removed. It looked like pretty tough conditions for that kind of work.

A few years ago the GCH slides were closed so we went over to DLH to try the new Monorail slides. The walk is easy (use crosswalk to Paradise Pier, not Downtown Disney), and I read they have a golf cart shuttle during this closure, if needed. It was kind of fun to have the best of both worlds, since GCH waterslide is pretty small anyways.

This is disappointing. When I booked for our stay arriving June 2, I was told there was a firm opening date for the pool to open, which I know is a rarity for Disney to ever give a date, unless they are sure of it. I don't remember the date I was given, however it was sometime in April, which I then of course thought our stay "should" be safe for the pool to be open. I guess I will stand by for a bit and see what happens. I understand things happen, but hopefully they are able to get the pool completed soon for everyone to enjoy :)

I had my husband call today and they told him the second week in May doesn't look very promising. It's a crapshoot, apparently.

When we were there in late March, we were told it would be open 'hopefully by June'.

When they started the project I just don't think they figured on all the rain we've had. I'm sure there's been lots of standing water and mud plus wetness can really affect concrete work. I'm sure the project is way behind schedule. And people would pitch hissies if they started work earlier in the morning or kept on working late at night to make up the lost time.

Disney said GCH pools closed to Spring 2017. Spring doesn't end until June 20 so they still have a long time to get the pool open in "spring". (And, please, please don't take anything phone CMs say as accurate. They are notoriously inaccurate.)

Pool update:
Fountain Pool (nearest Storytellers) was plastered yesterday (April 12) and filled. Plaster should cure and water stablized in about a week. Construction walls have been added between the pools, so Fountain can open while work continues on the other pools.
