Hi!
We just booked for the GC @ Disneyland and I was wondering if anyone could share any pictures from their stay at the GC and opinions on it. Is it similar to the Grand Floridian @ Disneyworld? We stayed there summer 08 and LOVED it! This is our 1st trip to California and Disneyland. We are soooooooooooooo excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!  :cool1: :cool1: I appreciate any pics and opinions on the GC and Disneyland in general. THANKS A BUNCH:banana:

Just love this place..what specific questions do you have?

We loved the Grand Californian it's great!
Especially the proximity to the parks - well it's right touching California Adventure, with it's own entrance from the hotel and a super quick walk to disneyland too!

It's not the same as Grand Floridian at WDW. It's like a really grand luxurious west coast ski lodge -kind of that earthy look and feel but in a large scale! \

Also something that I like is that unlike the Grand Floridian where you have several out buildings and you actually have to walk outside to get to your building from the lobby, here the different "buildings" are connected with undercover walkways, so you don't really feel like you're going outside, it's just different arms of the same building :)

I'm sure you'll have a fantastic stay!

P.S. Did you check out Tripadvisor. People always post a variety of photos there - it's under traveler photos.

I really like Nunzia's pictures!

I have only stayed at GCH twice - once in 2001 and once in 2007 - and I most definitely would stay there more often if money allowed. I like the elegantly rustic decor (I always say that it reminds me of a mountain lodge/chalet, but upscale), the dark wood, the dim lighting, the hearth, the giant lobby, the piano music (and during the holidays, the huge Christmas tree and carolers), etc., but I can enjoy all of that stuff even if I don't stay there. In fact, there are certain things I prefer about the DLH and the PPH decor over the GCH. But I found that we just seemed to get a lot more accomplished on our trip in 12/07 when we stayed at the GCH because of the close proximity. Staying at the PPH or even the DLH in the past has always produced grumbles from my group about the hotel being too far away from the parks, which resulted in reluctance to go back IN to the parks once we went back to the hotel for a mid-day break. The walk to and from PPH (or DLH) seemed daunting at the end of a long day. Even if GCH is not technically all that much closer in number of steps, the fact that it SEEMS so much closer works wonders on one's stamina and energy level and willingness to go back into the parks after the mid-day rest break!! So, from a productivity standpoint, I would definitely stay there again. But it is very expensive and frankly, just too hard to pull off. When Disney releases certain promo deals, the rates for the PPH are usually too good to pass up, which is why we keep ending up back there.

I have read the GC is similar to the Wilderness Lodge. I believe the same architect designed both of them.

Thanks for taking the time to post pictures of the GC! It looks very pretty and we are even more excited for our trip :) :) It does remind me of the style of architecture of the Wilderness Lodge @ WDW. It has that lodge look to it and I fell in love with it from the Disneyland website and knew it was the one to book for our family. It is good to hear from people that have actually stayed there and have pictures to share. Do you happen to have any pictures of the pool area? Is there a pool slide? I know the Grand Floridian had a slide and my son just loved that feature. We used the pool alot at the GF so I'm sure we will do the same at the GC. Again, thanks for replying :)

It is the same architect as WL, and it sort of 'feels' the same.
However, the experience at GC is much, much more luxurious.

I may have a couple pictures of the pool area, but only the back part where the grandkids were playing. BTW...sorry pictures are so big! I couldn't figure out how to resize them
It's a very pretty area..the whole darn place is so worth it and we have all become spoiled and will only stay there..we live small so we can vacation large:woohoo:

I hoped that I had more pics as the GCH is our favorite place to stay too, I guess I'll have to stay again and get some better pics.

It is nice. Verrrrrry nice. Just so so great and comfortable. I got to stay there for one night at the end of my last trip. Its the nicest hotel I've ever stayed in...and probably will ever stay in. I almost cried when we checked out. ;) And I will most likely never get the chance to stay there again! *sigh* But a girl can dream...

Me, sleeping in the GCH ----> :cloud9:

(If you want to see more pictures, I have some on my myspace - there is a link via my profile on here. I took a lot of pictures. What a tourist I am. Tee hee.)

Can you go into the hotel if you are not staying there for a look around? is it worth a look around, it looks really pretty?

We stayed there our last trip and loved it. Wish we could stay there this trip but money doesn't allow it this time arround.
It was great. The service is awsome.
The rooms are supper nice.
DD got sick at like 1:30 in the morning. We called the service desk to get some towels just to cover the part of the bed that she got sick on (it was at the foot of the bed in the corner so not really a big deal).
They came up and changed the bed completly, left us tons of towels and some extra sheets. I didn't really expect that in the middle of the night.
You just kind of feel like you are in another world :cloud9:

Yep..you can come in and look around all you want.
