Grand Californian, Disneyland Hotel, Paradise Pier-Why is Paradise Pier the cheapest?

Just because it is the cheapest, doesn't mean it is a lesser place to stay. We stayed here 3 weeks ago. I did not find the walk to be that bad. You can get to DTD and CA by going over to GCH. At the most it took us 15 mins. to get to our destinations. We loved our room. It was a little bigger than a regular hotel room. We ventured over to DLH and it was nice, but DS 7 seemed to enjoy PPH. I am a true believer that you are your destiny to your own happiness. Before we went, I had read several reviews against this hotel. I was a little nervous that we had made a wrong choice. That being said, I can tell you we did not and I plan to stay at this resort the next time I go to DL.

I completely agree with diznynut. I had read some negative comments about Paradise Pier before my trip last year, but ended up LOVING it even more than the Disneyland Hotel. I didn't find the walk to be bad it all, and the rooms are decorated very nicely in my opinion. I'm planning on staying there during my next trip.

thanx, pir8girl. so you can board that at downtown disney, and ride it back there when you're done w/the parks? that's cool. less walking! yay!! :flower:

Since the only other monorail stop is in Tomorrowland, in order to save on walking, you'll have to BE in Tomorrowland already. :) So plan for that and it will be OK. Otherwise, if you walk from Adventureland to Tomorrowland just to save on walking, well, you might still save on some walking, but not much!

I have stayed at all three, and while my "heart" belongs to the GCH my wallet cannot take it on a regular basis. Between the other two, I prefer Paradise Pier for the rooms (much nicer IMHO) but DLH for the amenities (the pool--which if I had kids with me would be cool because it is very well themed) and the restaurants. Paradise Pier is "light" on restaurants--there is one restaurant where there is a character breakfast and then they serve a regular lunch and dinner menu. There is a counter in the bar where you can buy some pastries and things along with coffee. They really need some type of quick-service restaurant.

Sigh........I can picture it now...........sigh..........I loved the shops in front of the DH too..........gosh, such great memories. When I first went back with the Whole big change-a-roo., I was completely! thrown for a loop!

I know! I loved eating breakfast in the Monorail Cafe and then heading up the escalator right onto the Monorail. That was the best! I stayed in the PP both when it was the still the Pan Pacific Hotel, and after Disney bought it. The Disney element is subtle but I think the property has held up well.
