Grand Californian Concierge Question

Oh excellent!! I am so glad you had a nice stay and the weather cooperated. Have fun planning for next visit for September. Would you know what the weather is like in August?

I am in the early stages of planning a trip.

What was your best meal when you were away?

The easy part for September is that the resort we have picked is an 'all inclusive' tropical resort! All we have to do is plan excursions and show up! Woo Hoo!

Are you staying at the Grand Californian when you go?

If I am not mistaken, August will be HOT! I would guess upper 80s or low 90s in August. That will make the water rides worth the wait! You can check the average weather during that time on weatherchannel.com.

I'll be happy to answer any questions you have for planning your trip! Our best meal.....Hmmmm....We really enjoyed the Blue Bayou, but it was pricey. We planned lunch because we heard that lunch was more reasonable than dinner, but with 7 of us, nothing was reasonable! The food was really, really good. We all shared so we got to taste everything. I had the famous Monte Cristo and shared with Dear Hubby. Our kids had ribs and salmon, and my girlfriend and her daughter had chicken. I think the salmon and the Monte Cristo were the best. The side dish potatoes were yummy! Price was about $30.00 per person average for lunch! Yikes! But worth it for the ambiance and the fact I can say I did it!

We also ate at the Rainforest Cafe. They have a bit of everything so we also enjoyed that. It, too, can be pricey depending on your menu choices!

Millies is a little homey type restaurant off property. If you walk out of the main gate and toward the tram drop off/pick up, you come to Harbor Blvd. Millies in on Harbor if you cross the street and turn left. It's right in front of the Fairfield Inn by Marriot next door to the McDonalds. It really is like home cooked meals and we have loved eating there since 2000 when we first started visiting Disneyland. Their pot roast is way better than mine!

Storytellers Cafe in the Grand Californian Hotel is also a good choice, but quite expensive. You can meet the Chip and Dale characters there in the morning I believe. It is very convenient if you are staying at the Grand Californian. We found that if we had breakfast at the Craftsman Club before we hit the parks and then did a light lunch in the park if we had dinner plans, or vice versa, we were good (not including snacks during the day!).

I'll also share some 'Where not to eat' locations we've learned from! There is a Tortilla Joes and a Harlequin type Clown Pizzeria (Naples?) both right on Downtown Disney that I would stay clear of. We've eaten at both and had bad experiences with both the food and the cost at each restaurant.

Disneyland has a different advance reservation system for meals. You can call 60 days ahead, not 180 like at Disneyworld. Rainforest Cafe follows the same reservation timeline, but you will have to call them directly. I would highly suggest advanced reservations at all the restaraunts!

If I can answer any questions, please feel free to ask! I'm happy to share!

All the best!
