hi

going to disneyland (yeah!!) with 5 adults - am thinking the grand californian with a balcony would be a good choice since we're celebrating a birthday but need a balcony for some personal time - any recommendations besides gc and do the gc standard room balconies have enough room for 2 camp chairs?

thanks for any recommendations

The rooms we have stayed in with a balcony had a small table and 2 chairs

You might want to note Balcony on your reservation. The last room I had there did not have one.

Most GCH rooms have balconies but not all. If there is a balcony they have two small chairs and small round table as mentioned. In the standard category most do not as they overlook the front of the hotel, but there are a few in the north end that do indeed have balconies...just had one

I have not stayed a GCH but have heard the rooms are relatively small - just something to consider if all five adults will be in one room.

They are. When we stay there, we generally only do 2 (sometimes 3 if one is a child) to a room. As far as the front facing rooms not having a balcony, we frequently request a room overlooking the valet drive as they are slightly larger and they do have balconies.

One of our favorite things is having coffee and breakfast sitting out on the balcony at GC. I didn't realize some rooms did not have them. We typically book Woods/Courtyard view and it's fantastic.

Yikes, it never occured to me that some rooms don't have balconies. I will have to make sure to ask about this when we check in on our next trip. I'd be very disappointed to have a room without a balcony -- it adds so much to the ambiance!

I wasn't sure from your post if you were only looking to stay at the GC or if you were open to other suggestions as well? We love the GC and have stayed there many times. But I agree that the rooms are small, and staying with 5 adults would be a squeeze for sure. Our other favorite is the Tropicana Inn and Suites Resort right across the street from the main Disneyland entrance. Particularly the Disney Executive Suite! It has 2 rooms, 2 balconies, and 2 bathrooms. You look directly at Space Mtn so the balconies are a great place to watch the fireworks. And the cost can't be beat: approx $230 a night. Worth looking into if you are also considering staying off property. That said, it can't compare to the ambiance of the GC....very few can!!:lovestruc

I agree with pop tart. A wonderful celebration trip can be enjoyed without staying onsite. I’ve done it at least once every year for the past 11 years!! Our latest trips have been suites at the HomeWood suites. They have a bunk room with 3 single beds and a king. There also a pull out couch in the living area. One bathroom.

Others I’ve researched are Camelot inn, desert inn & suites, hojo. Newest close one is courtyard inn theme park entrance

Newer ones also further away like the hs are country inn, Hyatt house, springhill suites.

Stay at the DLH in a frontierland tower suite with balcony. Much more space.
