Has anyone ever chartered her for the fireworks cruise or private dining? We've got her reserved for my birthday, and I have some questions.

A big one is does one tip the captain and first mate? If so, what is the appropriate amount?

We did the Grand One and really enjoyed the experience. My DH handled the reservations, etc... and usually handles the tipping so I asked him if he could remember. He said that he *thought* he gave the captain $40 and $20 to each of the other mates on board. I can only remember there being the captain and 1 mate but he said there were 2. I honestly cannot remember as we were celebrating my b-day as well and I was talking with the guests he had invited.

He also had private dining arrange for some light foods and drinks on board and it really made for a magical evening. DH surprised me with the whole thing and it was great. :)

HTH!

Ducklite, happy (early) birthday! Bracho here on the Dis reserved the Grand 1 about a year or so ago. PM him about it.

Just an important update...

We have just recieved a BRAND NEW Grand One Yacht. I'll see about posting pictures... the thing is huge, and very luxurious...

Chip 'n Dale Express, that would be wonderful if you could post those photos. I'll anxiously await your posting of them.

I hate being the bearer of bad news... but I can't find them anymore!! :( :(

We chartered the Grand 1 for an hour crusie during the MK fireworks, after our wedding reception at V&A's. It truly was fabulous, and yes, as someone else said, you do tip the captain & 1st mate. I think we tipped $20 each.
If you have any other questions, feel free to ask! It was a great, amazing, wonderful time, well worth the $$.
Cheers!

Thanks Janet! My DH hadn't a clue what to get me for my birthday, and decided it was something I would enjoy :) He told me in advance as we had to shuffle around dining reservations for it...but that's fine by me :)

I loved your Disney Cruise pics - looks like you had a wonderful time.
I just booked a surprise for my husband, dinner at V&A's followed by a pontoon boat (a boat for 12) for just the 2 of us. You meet the boat at the GF marina, and he takes you around the lagoon for a water tour then stops to watch the MK fireworks. I ordered champagne, tuxedo strawberries and decorations. But, after reading about the Grand 1, I was wondering which would be better. When I booked the pontoon I did not know about the Grand 1. Has anyone done both and compare for me??? The price of the private boat is $250.00, with all the things I added.

Gonga--Thanks! We did have a great time! I'm hoping to get the rest of the story and the pics up in the next week or so...I have another 25 or so photos to add, including CC!

As far as the Grand 1, I think it was $350 for the hour, nothing included except the Captain and first mate. We had thought about dinner aboard, but I really wanted Jiko for my birthday, so we'll order a cheese plate and bottle of wine in advance.

I'll take lots of pics and add them to the site as well :)
