Gran Destino Tower, no power

As far as I heard it all came back on late yesterday and stayed on. I’m assuming it’s still on based on lack of updates.

I'm an elevator person. Even a foot or three wouldn't deter me.

And it wasn't just a single person. It was my friend, her family and other guests who got stuck.

Okay, more than one person experienced one incident.

For me - elevator + transformer = Gran Destino is not ready for prime time. I guess it's understandable. New places typically need to get the kinks out

Faulty transformer isn't a kink. It's either incredibly bad luck or awful quality control.

There was a recent post in a Facebook group I’m a part of that Dhalia Lounge is indeed still closed. That person was at Toledo for dinner tonight.

Guests in the tower are also receiving calls that there is a planned power outage this Friday, August 9th, from 10am - 5pm.

Thank you for the prompt reply. I feel bad for the guests who are still on property. Earlier posts sounded like it was over. Hopefully, it will be resolved soon.

We received a call today saying there was a planned outage for Friday from 10-5 in the tower rooms only. I wasn’t pleased as we are checking in around 10 am Monday. They assured us that it would be back by 5. I tried to be moved but they only offered us a preferred room at Coronado and that didn’t seem like what we wanted to do. They couldn’t tell us if the elevators would work or not. They basically just said, “you will be at the park anyway so no big deal”. I just didnt love that attitude. What if we would like to come back to the room? That’s a long time for the power to be out!

Sorry you face this on arrival. Hope they are able to complete the repairs so that you won’t be bothered by outages for the rest of your stay.

That’s what I’m wondering - I know absolutely nothing about construction - but it seems to me that a brand new transformer blowing is a very rare (and expensive) fail. Could the transformer chosen (called for in the design) have been too small to handle the demands made on it?

I can't see it being too small. Disney has been doing this a long time. I think the problem is with the transformer itself.
