So I thought I might post this here for some advice. I am bringing my Gram for her 1st visit to the Magic Kingdom. She is in a wheelchair and has ms. I really want her to enjoy it and am thinking of the best and easiest way to get her on certain rides and which are accesible with a wheelchair. She does have problems with spinning so I have to be careful with the rides. Does she have to be able to transfer from the wheel chair to ride on everything? are there any that she could stay in the chair for? any other tips to make our trip go more smoothly are appreciated! Thanks :)

The Disability FAQ thread at the top of this forum will have the most detailed information for you. There is information on wheelchairs in the parks, which rides are accessible to a wheelchair (where you can stay in the chair for the ride), which rides require a transfer from the wheelchair to the ride car/boat, which rides require a transfer from an ECV (scooter) to a manual wheelchair available at the attraction, and which rides are not accessible (most rides are, but some attractions such as Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse are not). The FAQ's thread will probably be able to answer any general disability questions you have. If you have any further questions feel free to ask!

I would also add not to discount the many different shows vs focusing just on the rides.

My DD uses a wheel chair and it not much for the rides.

So, that is where we spend most of our time.

Little Mermaid and Beauty & The Beast at HS are standard regular shows we always take in.

The Lion King show at AK is incredible (not too much of a fan of the Nemo show but we'll go see it). Also at AK the safari ride (get a fast pass to avoid the always long lines) is also a regular.

If she doesn't like spinning, be careful of the new-ish Toy Story 'arcade' ride. Whereas the Buzz Lightyear ride which is similar simply has you go in a straight-ish line in your car to play the game, we were surprises at the Toy Story 'arcade' ride will have your car go whipping around without much notice from one game station to the other. DD was not a big fan of that and frankly I don't see how it (vs moving a little more slowly from one game station to the other) adds anything to the ride other than getting you finished a few seconds earlier.

I hope that helps and and you all have a great time.

Dan

Great Thank you, I did not know all that info was there! Very helpful.
