Gramma jinxed disney on spring break! PARTING THOUGHTS 06/15/09

The Laila perfume..I kindof like it at first but after too long it gives me a headache. It's so funny how many people buy it and then wear it all over WDW. I kept noticing the smell of it on so many ladies in line the whole rest of our trip! (psst...for those of you wondering you can get it on ebay, but it isn't any cheaper!:scared:)

Yup - I tried to find the Italian men's cologne online too - same price and MUCH more than Laila for me!

Tammie - great update! When I do mine, I type in word, then just copy and past ehe whole thing into the post - then go back and insert the pics where I want them. Plus, sometimes I'll type out more of the report than I actually post, and save the rest for a later post.

And it IS nice to have the captain roll out the red carpet for you, huh? ;)

Thanks Kara. I've been using the pics to jog my memorie, so I'm sorta typing to the pics and filling in the blanks. I'm sure I could still look at the pics and type in word.

Before we move on, I think I forgot to mention that we got stuck for a while in Nemo, just as we entered the acquarium area. We saw the same scene play about 3 times. Then we stalled for a few seconds in SE. More Jinx to come....

Tues, Mar 24th – Into the Wild
We were awakened at 7:01 am by a screaming alien, followed by Mickey apologizing for him. I jumped up at made coffee and hit the shower. We were going to try to make RD this am. I started getting ready while Jim lounged in bed. Very unusual for him. He usually gets up first and makes or goes out for coffee, which he brings me in bed. I KNOW - great guy!
We ate our school bread and headed out the door at 8:35am. I kept forgetting the time it takes to park and ride the tram.
We made it to the park and parked relatively close to the front. We decided to walk instead of waiting for the tram. I think we actually got there just before the tram, but right after two buses. We made it through security right as RD was happening – not too bad. We ran for EE, and Jim got FP while I went to check out stand-by. The line was already 45 min long, so we decided to just FP today. I found out later that it was at this time I missed Morgtroy, I was later to find out. She was planning to be on Safari at this time, and we were going to ride EE, so I was to call her when we got off. I found out later that she was getting a FP at the same time as Jim and looking for me L
We headed over to dinosaur. This guy was making a crazy funny squacking noise - he put on quite a performance:
March09BBallZooWDW180.jpg

We entered Dinoland:

March09BBallZooWDW183.jpg

March09BBallZooWDW184.jpg

I just had to have a pic of this Bird of Paradise – You would almost expect it to start talking to you like a puppet:
March09BBallZooWDW182.jpg

Dinosaur was a walk on – as we were running down the steps to our land rover, I noticed the “ketchup and mustard” pipes from our trivia game. I pointed these out to Jim – he was quite impressed with my knowledge
As our ride was starting, the lights came on and JINXIES! an announcement “Please stay seated, your adventure will begin in just a few moments.” It only lasted a minute, but it was laughable by this time. After we found our dino back in the past (my pic of the pic came out really blurry) We went to the little dump store. I had never noticed the theming in here:
March09BBallZooWDW186.jpg

I called Morgtroy and left a message. She didn't get it until later in the afternoon :(
Now I was on a mission. I had never been to Maharajah to see the tigers. So off we went toward Asia. We saw this guy along the way:
March09BBallZooWDW188.jpg

Now I had recently told my DSIS that EE was not scarey – no big drop, just a fast version of BTMRR! Hah! As we walked along the back side, I could see a huge drop backwards! I told Jim I didn’t know enough to be afraid the first time – I’ll have to be scared this time! I just want to put this funny in here now so I don’t forget. At one point, we were walking across a bridge where we could see EE in the distance. Some guy said, “Is that a real rock formation?” Yah. With real snow on it. In Florida. Here’s your sign.
March09BBallZooWDW187.jpg

I couldn’t believe the size of this tapir!
March09BBallZooWDW189.jpg

As we got to the bats, I knew from other TRs that we were getting close:

They were already hiding from the heat, but I enjoyed seeing what I could.
Next Post: Does Santa Take Vacation?

It OOFDAH! (I AM Norweigan - there's proof)

NO WAY! OMG!

That is just too funny cause I haven't heard that in years! My (now ex) stepmother was Norwegian and her family used to say that ALLLLLLL the time! (I always thought it was spelled UFF-DA!):rotfl:

Her and my dad divorced so I haven't seen her in years but that brought me right back!! :lmao:

(Oh yeah and her mom...Mrs. Tweed-as I called her-she looks EXACTLY like the Scandinavian Sea lady in the mural in Maelstrom. I mean SPITTING IMAGE! So every time we are going to ride Maelstrom Ron says to me "Are we going to go see Mrs. Tweed?" :rotfl2:)

I LOVE Beach Club too..I told Ron we WILL be staying there...if not next time, then...soon...:rolleyes1

You might be right! It probably is UFF-DA! I bought my mom a book by that name when we lived in North Dakota. I don't remember the Maelstrom lady - did she have blond braids?:goodvibes

I know! Beach Club looks like heaven on Earth! I forgot to mention there was a guy on the beach there teaching how to cook on an open fire - looked like a good time!:hippie:

love it. Glad you got your slushie. :)

between the beatles comment and the guy asking about the mountain im lol literally! that was great!

Ok, I am SERIOUSLY questioning my agreeing to riding EE. I am NOT hearing good things. The backwards drop is what I have doubts about.:scared1:

great updates! i love epcot - especially world showcase! you guys were all over that place! you could've sat at those tables in france - no one checks that sorta thing that i know of. and besides, you could've just gotten another grand marnier slushie. that's what erica and i did in september when we sat there to watch illuminations.

so are you gonna buy a tripod now? they really are great to have. even if you can't find a trash can to sit it on, just attaching it to your camera and holding the tripod instead of the camera helps to hold it more steady so you get better nighttime pictures. :thumbsup2

:lmao:

cammie - the backwards part of EE is not bad at all - i think it's the best part actually! there's no big drops when you're going backwards. it just goes fast. the only big drop on the whole ride is right when you start going forwards again (right after you see the yeti's shadow) and even that one is not that bad. if you can handle splash mountain, you can handle it!

i'm sure you've seen something similar but go here to see a video. just hold on tight and you'll love it!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_ABgBTSMm8

Cammie- it will be fine! The backwards part just makes you laugh and laugh! :rotfl: Really!!

Cammie - that is a very good youtube video to watch. You'll see that the drop is not that big - and the backward part is very short. Nothing crazy really - a little bit of a souped up BTMRR.

Dawn - thanks for posting that!

So that's it? What's all the fuss about?:lmao:

Ok you two - after seeing that video, I agree - it doesn't look bad. But be warned - if I puke, one of you will be stuck taking care of me!:thumbsup2

Oops, don't be scared - see I didn't even know if the drop was forwards or backwards, so it can't be that bad. :rotfl2:

I know - that's what I told Jim about those tables. He's not a "rule breaker" I guess that's a good thing in the military.:lmao: And yes, I am going to get a tripod before my next trip for sure!

EXACTLY! Forward, backward - I was thinking that you go backward for the whole rest of the ride, I forgot you go forward again - so that drop looks big from the outside, but you can't really tell when you're riding it! It doesn't scare me like splash, cuz I don't see when I'm dropping. Maybe if you ask for the front :rolleyes1

a tip on the writing posts and not losing them, try it with your email open, type it like you are writing an email to someone in the subject line, that should help with the links instead of of notepad.

cap may sounds good, have never been there, my dad likes only a few buffets in disney, we go to chef mickeys ohana, and WC...he likes what he is comfortable with so we go to those places.

so i am sure cape may is out for the next trip which is almost 1 year away, oh man time to start a PreTR for that one...no to soon, just have to stretch out my TR for a few more months then i can start it up.
:thumbsup2

loved your updates, came back after the weekend to 3 updates that was exciting.

It will be fun to have your parents with you - I hope:goodvibes You can try some other places the next time.

I was wondering where you were - I had to entertain the troops by myself! :rotfl2:

Maharajah Cont – Some of the Tigers’ friends. I’m not sure if they were separated by a fence or not – I hope so.

We headed over and got a FP for KS, then back to EE for our expedition! I really liked all the items in the queue area. I would like to see them better, but that would mean riding stand-by, which we usually don’t do! Our Jinx: THE YEHTI NEVER CAME OUT! It was pitch dark, no growling, no yehti, then the camera snapped! I should have taken a pic of our pic – we both looked like we were watching the 6 o’clock news!

We were getting hungry, so we headed over to the Yak & Yehti CS – not too impressed. I think we both got the orange chicken with fried rice. The chicken was really dried out, and the rice was kind of tasteless. Jim got a frozen lemonade for his dessert, I don’t remember what I got. I just remember the lemonade, because he didn’t want to eat it, and I didn’t want to waste it, so I carried it in a bag in my purse and Jim was sure I was going to spill it after it melted. I made it back to the room with it. Anyway, there was a mama duck with babies walking all around under our chairs while we were eating:

NOW FOR THE CLIFF HANGER – DOES SANTA TAKE VACATION? THE ANSWER IS A RESOUNDING YES!!!!! I HAVE PROOF.

I first spotted him getting condiments from this cart:
March09BBallZooWDW208.jpg

Apparently this little girl is mad because her mom didn't let her tell Santa what she wanted.
OH! just noticed - look at the mom's face!!! Apparently she didn't get her wish, either!:rotfl2:
As we were walking out, I saw him eating lunch with Mrs. Clause and their son and granddaughter. His hat said “Santa” so I assumed he was not under cover. I asked for a picture, and he acted disgusted, then smiled and posed
March09BBallZooWDW209.jpg

Then he asked if I wanted to sit on his lap and tell him what I wanted for Christmas – his wife offered to take the pic. I opted for lean down and smile :

We looked through a couple of shops – we didn’t buy anything, as we were planning on shopping the outlets this afternoon, and coming back on Sat, if there was anything we had to have. Some street entertainment in Harambe:

We headed out on Safari
March09BBallZooWDW216.jpg

Jinx: The radio didn’t work in our jeep! Our driver kept trying to get ahold of whoever they usually talk to in the field – just static! It was a pretty quiet ride, but she tried to carry the story herself, poor girl. She did a good job of educating on the animals.

I was in the middle, so I didn’t get very many good shots – here is what I have

We headed out of the park, so we could hit Walmart for some supplies, and go to the Character Warehouse to look for some gifts and souvies before paying full price in the park. I took a pic of the entrance, because I had been in too much of a hurry when we got there!
