When you think about the word "graffiti", I'm sure most (if not all) think about profanity messily scrawled along brick walls. But, I don't. I think about the real artists of the medium. I think about the incredible skill it takes to make something so beautiful.

That, those pictures, are what I think about. Graffiti is beautiful.

You say its a crime, well, in some cases, yes, But some of those artists up there have permission. They're painting on private property. Some were hired out. We don't really know.

Yes, in some cases it is just profanity scribbled on public properity, but in some other cases, its so much more. Some of those pictures left me just gaping at my monitor.

The most amazing part of all of it though, its not all tagged. Some of these brilliant artist didn't take credit for their work.

So, you can call it a crime, but as an artist myself, I think it would be a crime to have that talent and NOT display it.

Feel free to disagree with me.

So what are your thoughts on graffiti?

It is pretty. I see a lot of pretty graffiti on train cars.

my cousin is an amazing grafiti artist.
he does mural all over the city in montreal.
his grafiti alias is 'vamp one' so whenever i see that i know my cousin did it.
(he does it without permission mind you)
but it's nothing profane.
i think it's wonderful and an excellent showcase of peoples artistic talents.

:hippie:

I was just thinking about this the other day.
I have to agree, grafiti is beautiful.
Which is why I hate when I see grafiti that says stupid things.
I love the pictures you posted.

I don't really like grafitti to be honest...I mean most of the stuff I see is just nonsence. In England, I don't see good art like you've posted much, maybe it's just me.
But I definitely like the art in your photos

Some if not most of the images posted here are very cool, I think it would be better if there was designated areas to spray and not just on random walls because for some people it's an eyesore.

some people think Picasso is an eye sore. :confused3

That was all nice but in some cases illegal. If the gangs would take that tallent and use it for legal activities, ( yea i know some was ok) then just imagin how nice the world could be! BTW this is coming from a nerd not gangster

I think those are nice as works of art, and graffiti is fine when authorized. When it's unauthorized, however pretty, it's still vandalism. Even if the graffiti was interesting, I would be pretty ticked off if someone graffitied my property. As art, those are nice. :)

I like graffiti if it resembles something or it truly is good art.
If it's just some random crap that says 'F*** you mof*s' then I hate it.

My thoughts exactly. ;)

Beautiful art need not be legal.
