Hi! It's been years since I've been on here and I'm excited to be back!

We are taking our son to Disney World for his High School Graduation trip. Can you tell me if there are any special pins, any tips or suggestions on what we can do to make it extra special?

Be sure to pick up the "I'm celebrating" buttons at the front desk or guest services. You may (or may not) get pixie dusted with some free snacks or desserts with them.

We are also planning a trip to celebrate a high school graduation! I was looking at the dining with the imagineer and fireworks dessert party. Was thinking one or the other - pricy but we all know it's been a less than optimal senior year. However, I am guessing neither will be available yet during my travel dates.
So, I am now looking at booking a nice meal and maybe a disney special occasion cake (or dessert at restaurant) as a surprise.

We are doing this for our daughter. She will graduate Feb 2022 and we are planning already. We need to book our dvc way in advance. Doing a grand villa for this trip and bringing along two of her best friends for five nights of the trip (we will be there 12 nights). Planning brunch at California Grill for the big celebratory meal. Will probably do a special order cake. Other than that, her time with her friends will be the big draw. Staying at SSR so the girls can easily get to DS on their own.

I’d suggest Memory Maker so you’ll have lots of special photos. I’d plan one nice meal based on his preferences. You can check out the cake chatter thread on the restaurant board to learn how to order a cake and to see what others have ordered. Be sure to pick up dated graduation ears! You can have his name embroidered on them.

If he bowls, Splitsville is a really fun afternoon or evening. Their food is delicious.

We are going in May for our daughter's high school graduation as well. I was wondering if they usually sell graduation ear headbands. Do any of you know?

Yes they do. Beginning in April or so. I’ve seen them at The Chapeau on Main Street and at Works of Disney.

We had a trip planned for July '20 to celebrate DD 8th grade graduation (she was the class Valedictorian as well). We are now re-scheduled for this July. 🤞🤞 that we will be able to travel.

Plans were/are :
  • I ordered a custom "Class of 2020" t-shirt that had a school name, valedictorian & a grad cap. All in her school colors.
  • A friend of mine who was in WDW last February was able to purchase the graduation ears while on her vacation.
  • We had a dinner planned for her at Topolino's (her request).
  • We had reservations for Savi's (so she could build a light saber).
  • We were also going to order her an in-room celebration (if we go this year, I probably won't do this).
  • Order Memory Maker & take lots of pics with the characters in her Graduation Ears - (who knows that the summer will bring).
I know it seems a lot for 8th grade graduation, but she worked her behind off to keep her grades at a high level and it paid off. She loves Disney and her dream would be to work at WDW.

Happy planning & Congrats 🎉to all the graduates!!

We took our daughter for a high school graduation trip 4 years ago. We had a Mickey graduation cake, balloon and ears waiting in the room for us when we arrived.

With Covid there are no things put in room for prior to arrival- that was in a post on resort board about birthday celebrations

Thank you, that's great news! It's a stinky year to be a senior, so we're hoping this Disney trip will make up for some of the cancelled things like her band trip to London, her graduation trip to Europe that she cleaned houses and babysat for two years to pay for, prom, senior breakfast, etc.

I loved reading all of your comments. We booked Aulani with our 3 graduates... 2 undergrads and 1 from law school. No official graduations but I’m thinking I’ll pack their gowns, caps and tassels and take photos on the beach at Aulani. Very different but special. I’ll get some grad ears also for the photos. Not going until end of May, but thanks for the positive energy!

We have participated in three different dessert parties and also did lunch with an Imagineer at Brown Derby. You are correct that both are very enjoyable experiences. Fingers crossed they may have something by graduation time. What about doing a progessive dinner on the monorail route. Have an appetizer at a Grand Floridian restaurant, then have salad at The Wave at Contemporary Resort, a main course at The California Grill, and dessert at another monorail restaurant. (I did not include Poly as some of the Poly is being refurbished.) Disney has a dining experince called Dining in the Sky. This is exaclty what you do. However, there is a before dinner drink and then extra desserts and hot chocolate for fireworks on the balcony at CR. You would not have fireworks at this time but maybe by graduation time. Also if you eat at CG you get a free pass to the rooftop of CR with your reciept. You may not like this idea at all but we enjoyed our Dine in the Sky and have repeated a similar format on our own. Makes for a fun evening. You can do the same at EPCOT and or Disney Springs. If tours are brouhgt back by graduation - I think you would enjoy Keys to the Kingdom or Mercaline to Magic.

It is improbable that dessert parties and dining with Imagineers will be available anytime soon. With Disney so strict on social distancing and masks they wouldn’t seat strangers close together at a dessert party or dining at large table with imagineer.
