Graduation Trip

Hello everyone!

I hope this is the right place to ask this.

My little brother (17 years younger than me) will graduate high school in 2017. To this end I want to take him on a nice trip. (Other than WDW since we go there every year.) So I was thinking about Adventures By Disney.

The one that I am looking at is the Disneyland ABD. (A stealth way to still get my Disney Parks fix while on a trip!) I just had a few questions that I thought you kind folks who know more than I do about these things might be able to answer.

1. Does the trip include airfare out to California? (I live in Tennessee and need to know if I have to figure additional funds for airfare)
2. Do you all think this would be an interesting/entertaining trip for a High School graduate? (I know I will enjoy it lol)
3. Can I take Disney Pins on an airplane? If so, do they trade them in DL like they do in WDW?
4. Would there be any problems getting popcorn buckets and mugs back with me? (I like to collect them)

Thanks!

1. No. Air is separate
2. Probably.
3. Yes
4. Should be yes. Depends how much room you leave in your suitcase.

While it's hard to say whether he would be interested in the DL Backstage Magic (not knowing him or his interests) , I think it is very thoughtful that you would take your little brother on an ABD for graduation. :)

I know ABD can be very expensive and so you might check some other options. For example, how about a trip to Paris with a day trip (or two) to Disneyland Paris? It's a very easy train ride from the city.

This is a really nice gift for your brother. Airfare in the US can be expensive! You may find that it is cheaper to fly to places like Costa Rica or Peru than within the USA. Our flight to Peru was cheaper than from Washington DC to Atlanta. Also, look at rooming - are you sharing a room or two separate rooms? The costs are higher if you book as two rooms. All these trips are amazing. You might snoop around a bit to see if the location is really something he's interested in.

That is amazing of you! What a great brother. I have two 17yo dds graduating this year as well. On the one hand, they'd be appreciative of ANY trip someone else was willing to take them on. On the other, DL would not be their first choice. I second making sure he is at least as much a Disney-phile as you. If you don't want to do all the planning, check out the "Other Options" for other companies that offer planned travel.

Again, kudos to you for wanting to do this!

Another Idea would be a trip to Vancouver & on to Whistler & do Summer activities.

( would suit 18 to 36 year olds )

I think it would be a lovely idea!

As far as airfare goes, you have several options depending on when you book your ticket and what class of service you want for the flight. For example, if you’re flying Nashville to LAX, Delta has a direct flight. Frontier also flies from Nashville to Los Angeles, but the fare for Frontier is usually much less expensive and my require an intermediate plane change.

Start checking out airline websites that service the route you want to fly, and then sign up for their frequent flyer programs. That way you’ll receive email notifications of upcoming sales. And you can always price multiple airlines on sites like Kayak, Expedia, Orbitz, etc. Just know up front that they don’t always give you rates for every airline.
