My daughter's HS graduation party will be in mid-June. We have a small house and yard (hopefully it won't rain!) and I'm looking for any ideas for food, themes, etc.

I want to keep it simple for food and theme. We're planning on a few poster boards and photos. It will be in the early to late afternoon.

Also, I'd like an ice breaker of some sort and posted on another thread about a chocolate fountain but the more I think about it this might be too messy. Unfortunately, we don't have room for yard games.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

My DD graduated in 2004. Her party and any we went to just had food and music and the kids and families entertained themselves. No games or mixers at any of them.

We'll be planning another for DS this year.

I agree that you don't need any ice breakers. Around here all the graduation parties are open houses and people come and go through out the party. People will entertain themselves. You will have enough to do then to worry about that. Also, most people here set up tables in their garage for people to use, rain or shine. That way you don't have to worry about spilled food and it gives you more space.

I would find the help of a few relatives or neighbors to man the kitchen so you can help greet guests though.

I guess I was thinking it's fun to have something for people who don't know many others to focus on. I always feel awkward when we go to a party and don't know anyone but the guest of honor.

I do plan on having pics of her up. We probably won't use the garage for people.... it's home to too many other things!

Any food ideas out there?

I would skip the ice breaker too. I'm not sure what you mean by a theme. I would think that graduation would be all the theme you would need. We just always had an open house with people coming and going. We didn't even decorate. We just had some napkins and plates and lots and lots of food and drinks.
