Graduation Gifts Dilemma - please help!

We've started doing themed "baskets" for college bound graduates. We've gotten so many compliments. It started because I went way overboard OCD organizing bins for my DS to take to college and everyone kept saying how great it was that he had so much stuff in such little space.

Laundry: use a laundry bag (with backpack straps - best thing ever) filled with detergant, fabric softener, Shout sticks, quarters etc

Shower: portable shower caddy with shower stuff, washcloths

Tools: the best bin I packed for DS to take to college was just a lidded box with a screwdriver, hammer, duct tape, Command hooks, flashlight, sewing kit, first aid kit. He was one of the most popular kids in his dorm because people knew he had stuff when they need
Office supply box: pens, pencils, sharpener, post its, markers and highlighters, paper clips, stapler, tape, stamps

I also agree with the umbrella idea. DS laughed when I bought him one and now he's ever so grateful for it :)

I'm not trying to high jack the thread, but would you mind sharing your OCD organizing bins? I'd love to find better ways to get things ready for my DD when she goes away to college. She will have sooooo much more than my son.

We bought lidded bins at Bed, Bath & Beyond (a little bigger than shoebox size) so that we could put them under his bed, but we lucked out and he had shelves to use.

I listed some of the bins I put together in my previous post, but I also did a medication bin (Tylenol, cold meds, sore throat stuff, first aid stuff, anti-diarrheal)

How about making photo books- especially for her first tier of friends. That would be something they would treasure forever. You could even get the other Moms in on it if you don't have a ton of pictures yourself.

For your team, how about a mug or a pillow with a team picture on it?

Wow, please don't think I am judging but here in Australia you don't gift gifts to friends of graduates. My DD graduates this year and apart from a nice dinner out with family we hadn't planned on buying anything. I must say when I read Disboards I simetimes think Americans are very generous with gifts for any occasion! Don't know how you guys afford it all

How about an alex and ani bracelet? They have a graduation cap one.
