Graduation gift for coworkers son - help

I'd go with the check for $20.15 if I felt that I really wanted to do something. To be real, I probably wouldn't give more than a card, but you say you are quite close with her, so yeah, the$20.15 is more than enough.

I am so glad this subject popped up! I was idly reading along, and then I realized; one of my managers had a child graduate last year and I got a card and a gift card (BB&B). The other manager has one graduating this year and I had completely forgotten about last year. Thank you, people!

I would do 50 or an Amazon card. My dd is also graduating HS and they can sign up for "Amazon Student".

I think if you attend the open house a gift is in order, if you don't a gift is optional. But a card is always appropriate. As for amount, for a child you don't know I think $25 is good.

The best (and most popular/appreciated) gift the year I graduated was Target gift cards. That way they can pick up exactly what they want.

Cash is my first preference. Hesitate to say what I would give because these things sometimes seem like keeping up with the Joneses. Give what you're comfortable with and leave it at that. If you want to go to the trouble of an actual gift the dorm room tool kit is wonderful. You would be amazed how many college bound students overlook that detail. (Stock in 3M probably isn't a bad gift idea -- Command Strips are definitely not cheap.)

I have liked giving a gift card in the amount of the grad year in the past. If you think $20.15 isn't enough, how about a $20 and a $15 card?

Thanks everyone - I will probably do cash. He doesn't need dorm stuff - he's been in a science and math highschool (living in a dorm) for the last two years so he's got all that stuff.

I wouldn't give anything less than $50, it would be $100 if it was someone that I was close with.
