Graduation — How much to give?

We gave $50 to DH cousin in 2015 for hs graduation and then in 2019 gave him $100 for college graduation.

We are giving our daughters friends $20 for hs grad this year.

Just to clarify, we are giving daughters friends money to only the grad parties she is invited to.

I think this depends on the relationship. I have an aunt and uncle that are also my godparents, and they gave me $250 for my college graduation. For high school, gifts ranged from $50-$100 from what I recall. I think anywhere from $100-$200 would be appropriate.

Depend on how close we are.
My nephew on my side I gave $100

My husband side
His brother has 3 kids, they gave our daughter $25-$30
His nephews we see all the time at holidays or parties but they don’t interact and sometimes don’t say hi/bye. Once they hit 17 they stop going to family function unless it’s Christmas. We’ve gone to bbq’s or parties at their house and even their bday parties and they don’t interact and sometimes don’t even come and say hi to family guest🤷🏽🤦🏽‍♀️ Drives me , hubby and dd crazy!! Thank god my daughter isn’t like that and has good manners

For that reason we only give $30

Hubbys step sister
That nephew we gave $50

Hubbys two cousins this year
$30 each. We only see them once a year

Btw- hubbys side usually gives $20-$30
My side $50-$100

For high school I used to give the nieces and nephews luggage. Kind of like “Congratulations. Now get out”. ;)

Seriously, $100 is plenty generous for a high school graduation gift.

I love your idea of the goldfish plant. We've had one for about five years and it still puts out little fish all the time. We would bring it in for the winter when the temperatures would go below 40 degrees. Now it never gets much below 50 degrees where we now live so it stays out all the time by the pool with the hibiscuses. My son did an internship in Massachusetts at a botanical garden the summer before his senior year and got it there.

A hundred dollar bill seems to be the "going rate" in our extended family, based on what DD has received so far. We gave $100 to her lifelong best friend, who is practically part of the family, and plan to give the same to our nieces and nephews as they start graduating in the next few years.

$100.00 for family graduations.
$25.00 for DS friends' grad parties.
