My daughter and friend will be at CBR in June, I hope to have a credit card for her before she leaves but she turns 18 only 15 days before she leaves and all the info I can find for student or any other type of cards requires her to be 18 to get the card, so I don't know if it will arrive before she leaves. If she has a card and her friend does also can you have each girls card attatched to their own room key? That would mean 2 different credit cards linked to one room, is this possible? Also if she does'nt have a credit card and the room is already paid for there should be no reason to have one , I know she would not be able to charge any thing to her room then, but the resort will not require one will they?

You cannot put 2 cards on one room. They will number the cards 1 and 2 for them so when they look at the room bill it can be separated easier by showing who charged what. Could you add your daughter as a signer to your card. My daughter has been on a card with me since she was 16. She is also on my gas card and they made a card with her name. I don't think the resort will require a charge card. They have only asked for one if we chose to charge items to the room.

If you have AAA membership card, they have a new pilot program that allows you to get a prepaid credit card. It is attached to your membership card, and has the visa emblem at the bottom. You can put any amount you want on the card ahead of time, and is used just like any other credit card.

I have one for my 16 year old daughter, that way if she gets in a bind she has some emergency money.

One nice thing is you can restrict how much they can spend.

Allforppoh has the right idea. I just signed my 16 year old up for a VisaBux card. Every month on a predetermined day, a certain amount is taken out of my account and put on her card. You can also add additional amounts anytime you want. There is a charge of $2.50/month to transfer the funds but it's a good way to help kids learn to handle money and give them a bit of independence at the same time. The card is assigned to the child and can be used at any location that accepts Visa cards or at ATMs.
