I am planning my first trip to Disneyland. We have a choice of either going at the end of June or the end of July. I was thinking of the end of June, but I heard about "grad nights" at that time.
Will this affect us? Or is it a non-factor?
Any insight would be great.
Thanks
Lori

ps- What exactly are "grad nights"?

Grad nights do not affect the daily operation
of the parks. In California graduating high
seniors have the run of the park from (usually)
10PM until 6AM. There are special dance
areas, giveaways, merchandise, shows and
performers. It's usually eight to twelve (sometimes
more) schools per night depending on the size
of the graduation class.

So it dosen't matter if we go during a grad night? We would just have to leave the park by 10pm?

2011 dates will be May 12, 19, 26 and June 2, 8, 9, 16. Parks will close at 6 to set up for the Grad Nites.

How did you get that information? I called Disney and asked them. They told me that they didn't know. :confused3
This is great news because we were planning on going at the end of July (after the 22).

Since grad nigths won't be a problem, do I need to worry about crowds at the end of June being worse than crowds at the end of July?

Thanks for all of your help.

I was at Disneyland in mid June 2009 and our last day there (Friday June 18th) was a grad night. Instead of closing at mid-night, Disneyland closed early that night...at 9PM.

This is really the problem with grad nights. The short night. The days are about the same.

Grad nights are usually on Thursdays and sometimes on Wednesdays. But I do not think ever on Fridays. I think you may be getting your days mixed up and are thinking June 18th was a grad night when it was either June 16 or 17. :)

Our first day of our June trip was a Grad Night and it was the least crowded day we had. We arrived around 3 pm and was able to do quite a bit before the park closed at 9. Peter Pan was about a 20-25 minute wait around 5 pm.

You are correct...June 18th, 2009 was a Thursday.
