Grad night question

I'm thinking of planning a trip to Disneyland for June. I've never been to Disneyland during June before. My trip might overlap with some grad nites. I was wondering does Disney close the parks early to the general public?

With changes to the program, there is much more impact during the day, as Grad Night tickets now allow entry into the parks during regular operating hours. Based on past history, DCA can close down specific areas for special pre-events. But Disneyland tends to close at regular time, or just an hour or two earlier. It depends on the specific date.

If the 2017 program is the same as the past few years, the grads had parkhopper tickets so many of them were in Disneyland during the day. It didn't get busy until the afternoon and the largest concentration of grads was in Tomorrowland and at the various thrill rides (e.g. Indy, Splash, Matterhorn, Big Thunder). In the evening their private party is in DCA starting at 10 PM after the park is closed to day guests. There was a WOC show scheduled at closing (9PM) for day guests and following that, many came over to DL which stayed open until 11 PM or midnight.

I was there mid-May on NON-Grad night days and there were still several groups of HS. Not all Graduation trips are Grad Nights.

No, parks don't close early to the general public! My grad nite tips: get a park hopper ticket, start in DL at rope drop, DCA in the evening, don't try to see DL nighttime entertainment (i.e. Fireworks) on a grad nite. DL is PACKED after 7pm. An overview of grad nite: grads get park hopper tickets for the day, have a private party in DCA after DCA closes until like 2am where they can ride the rides & see WOC.

Grad nites are annoying but you can still have a great trip!
