I intended to buy this for our upcoming trip to WDW at the end of the month but found out today that Graco has discontinued them. Anyone have suggestions for something comparable in the under $50 price range?

Have you checked your local Target or BRU? I thought they had these in the store at one of them? I might be wrong, but thought I saw the Umbroller at Target in a navy blue & light blue combo....

We're looking for a new umbrella as well and have decided on the Maclaren Truimph, if you look online you can find last year's models for about $115. It reclines, weighs about 11 pounds, and holds a child up to 57 pounds.

Hope that helps,

I love our umbroller, I didnt know they discontinued them.

I know they just reset the baby sections at target and walmart so idk what they got new. I know when i got the umbroller at target a few years ago they had a similar one (i think kolcraft) that was about the same original price. we got our umbroller on clearance though so it was only about $20. Totally worth it since it is our primary stroller now two years later! (the other one is just too darn big).

Hope you are able to find something!

I am planning to purchase 2 new strollers for our may trip == for my boys 5 and 4. I have checked out the truimph and like it but, how do you know that the stroller holds up to 57 pounds??? I have been trying to find a stroller that would hold that type of weight, all I read is up to 40 pounds??

I have a Maclaren Quest Mod and it holds up to 55 pounds. Maclarens are known to hold more weight than most strollers on the market.

This is directly from the Maclaren website:

How long can I use my buggy—up until what age and/or weight?
Maclaren buggies are designed and tested to hold up to a 55lb child; the twins are tested to hold up to 55 pounds each side. Most children determine at what age they no longer want to be in a buggy—some children want to walk when they’re 2, others when they’re 5. We suggest you let your child guide the usage of your buggy, while keeping within the weight limit.

I do like the convience of a double - but sometimes my husband & I like to go in different directions, and we both like to push.

I found this from a poster on the budget boards...hope this can help someone!

For those interested in the Maclaren Volo stroller, Babystyle.com is having a sale...$10 off every $50 spent. The promo code is KICKOFF.

I just checked their website and confirmed that Maclaren Volos are on sale for $79.99...with the discount, it is $69.99!!! AND THAT IS THE 2006 MODEL, WITH THE CANOPY!

If anyone is worried about the mesh/like seats not being that comfortable, they sell a Volo accessory pack to go along with it:

We have Chicco Caddy and we love them a lot! We bought them at Babies r Us for 49.95. We have had them for almost a year now and both DD's fit great in them. DD4 is about 30+ lbs and DD2 is 19 lbs. We have taken them to DL 3 times and they go all over town with us. They have shocks in both front and back wheels (DH loves that) they have a great sun cover/shade thing. They have zippers in the back so it will recline a bit. Both DD's have fallen asleep in them and they didn't look very uncomfortable. They fold up very well a bit bigger than the standard umbrella type. I would be happy to email you picture of my DD in them if you'd like. I stink at posting pics on here. On our last trip our friends said they would be getting two for the twins who will be three in April. If you have any questions, please ask.

I just ordered our Triumph from Tiny Ride this morning. Hubby said the weight was on the side of the box and on the stroller itself.

I like the Volo but I wanted a reclining stroller and that one is fixed. Don't know if that will help any one decide.

Can't wait until it gets here, got the confirmation that it shipped same day, and they threw in a rain shield too. That took care of most of my shopping in one stop.

I didn't get the Volo because it doesn't recline. Otherwise, it would be a PERFECT umbrella stroller! I opted for the Quest Mod in Rose/Pink. It is just adorable for my little girl! I got it very quickly (with the rain cover, too!) and it is just THE BEST stroller I have owned! (I have had a bunch...DS is 4!)

I don't think you can really go wrong with Maclaren's. I can't believe it took me this long to finally try one!!!

We have a Jeep stroller from BRU that I LOVE. It's umbrella style, so it folds up nice and thin, but it's much sturdier and a bit taller than a regular umbrella stroller so you don't have to stoop when you push it. It was like $39, and has been better than the 3 more expensive strollers we had before it!

I agree about Jeep Strollers...we have a big Jeep stroller that we got for DS when he was 7 1/2 months. Actually, funny story about why we got it! We went to WDW and used a cheap stroller we got from BRU right before we left. Well, I accidentally left the brake on and pushed the stroller and the WHOLE WHEEL SNAPPED OFF. UNFIXABLE! And we were halfway around the World Showcase at Epcot! :furious: DH had to walk around with it on 3 wheels while I carried DS. We called Orlando information to find a BRU nearby so we can find a new stroller. And that's when we got our Jeep! We used it for a couple of years, and it is still in the garage in good condition! It's DEFINITELY not a small umbrella stroller, it's much larger. But it worked out great for us.

I decided to buy a new stroller for my little girl, because she's a GIRL and the Jeep that I have is rather boyish, IMO. Plus, it gave me a reason to get the Maclaren I really wanted for her anyway!!!

Thanks, everyone, for the suggestions. We did try our local Target in Chicago & my daughter's in NH with no success for the umbroller.

What got us thinking about them was while we were visiting my inlaws in England over the summer EVERYONE had them. This Triumph will be our fourth stroller. We have a Peg Aria which we'll keep for a second baby, it was perfect when our dd was an infant, we have a jogger that I'll trade for a double jogger if we have a second baby, and then we're got a $20 kolocraft umbrella that we'll leave at my parents.

I can't wait for this one to get here, we ended up with the jaded lime green flag 2006 Truimph. So if anyone is heading down the first two weeks of March, I'll be the woman pushing the lime green stroller and watch for my DD who'll likely want to walk so she'll be in her Pooh harness dragging her dad around. :rotfl:

Have you tried any of your area consignment stores? Or are you strictly looking to buy a new one? I bought my DD a Graco stroller that was in excellent condition (like new) for $20 at our local consignment store. I almost bought the same exact stroller at Toys R Us for around $100. Of course, you have to check it over over carefully before purchasing but in my situation it was a perfect solution. I have also bought a brand new still in box bassinette for $10 as well as a playpen for $15. All in excellent condition. I'm not sure if that is an option for you, but just my suggestion. After buying everything brand new for baby #1, loaning out when she got older and then having to rebuy all the baby stuff for DD #2 since apparently no one in my family actually attempts to take good care of "borrowed" baby items, I decided to do the gently used route. Good luck !

Yes, we're also checking the consignment shops. Passed all the info on to my daughter in NH -- I'm sure we'll come up with something. Appreciate all the ideas.
