Grab The Trash Bags, We Are Going to Disney!

All caught up :surfweb:. My DS always gets motion sickness so we carry bags with us all the time. One year we got off the plane and I realized he never got sick. But as we were going up the escalade he caught his sandal on the medal part and cut his foot wide open needing stitches. What a great surprise in your room :cool1:. I wish our room was ready that early, great start to your TR.

Welcome!! That must make for some stressful flights. Maybe he will grow out of it since one year he didn't do it? Scary escalator story though! We were so happy when our room was ready when we got there and couldn't believe we flew from Massachusetts the same day and were standing in our room at 11:30am. The In Room Celebration was fun for sure! Thanks for coming over!

Now we are on to Tuesday or Day 4 of our trip. Again, we all slept in. Can't believe I allowed all this sleeping in. ;) We didn't make even one rope drop. Oh well! We got the girls dressed in their Minnie dresses because this was our Chef Mickey's Day!! This was my son's favorite in 2008 and remains his favorite meal still. We love the Mickey waffles! So, here come the characters. It felt like they came and went a little faster this time, but like I mentioned before everything seemed a little busier this year.
SAM_0588.jpg

Everyone gave Mickey a huge Thank You for his room surprise!
SAM_0591.jpg

We liked the family picture too, but of course that was extra. We bought it because we were actually all smiling at the camera at once!
We did have one not so magical moment at Chef Mickeys this time around. When I was paying for the pics, my DD5 starting choking on her bacon. The photographer stepped back in horror as I pulled a large string of bacon from my daughter's mouth. She was ok, but would not eat anything after that. This was one of those "Remember what is truly important moments". She was fine, we were all fine and together. I took a moment to look at my family in this wonderful place and take it all in before returning to more visits and pics!
Here is Pluto coming in for a big lick to baby DD:
SAM_0606.jpg

And then it was DS's turn to get licked!!
SAM_0607.jpg

So much fun! I am sure we will return to Chef Mickey's again next time! I hope I dislike a restaurant soon or we are going to have to get the Deluxe Dining next time. :scared1:
Now we were off to the monorail and MK where we did Mickey's Philharmagic, Splash Mountain, Thunder Mountain, It's a Small World and Snow White. We found MK to be so hot and crowded this trip that we actually found ourselves spending little time there. So, off to the pool at CBR we went. The Strawberry Sunrises were calling me anyway :thumbsup2. Yum!
Next up: Some time at CBR at night on Day 4.......

I can hardly wait to read more!!! The girls are just so cute in their outfits and what a good sport your son is to sit through all the girly girl stuff:scared1:

Loved the look on their faces when they got the gifts too. Did you arrange that through Disney?:wizard:

I just love Chef Mickeys - agree with DS, Mickey Waffles rule!
What a great in room surprise! I want one!!

Oh yay! I am so excited to have people interested in my TR! Thanks for your compliments too! I am lucky that DS will put up with all the princess stuff. I have been told by other people that they can't do princess meals for their DDs b/c of their DSs. I think he enjoys it. Wait till you read about his reaction to meeting the Fairies! What a fun day that was.
Yes, that was the Grand Welcome (I think that is what it is called). It was very expensive, but worth it for their reaction and they tell everyone that Mickey and his friends decorated our room and left gifts.

The surprise was a HUGE highlight. One I think my kids will always remember. We should all have one of those! It was a surprise for hubby too. Thanks!

Great pictures of your family! That is scary when your child starts choking. Love the girls dresses, I am going to attempt and I use that word lightly to make my niece some dresses for her up coming trip. Wow you got to take your kids out of school for vacation that's great. My DS lives in Ma. and they give her a hard time. hurry for your school district

Well, after our fun with the Mouse Chef and at MK, we decided to head back to the resort for some pool time and let the day unfold on its own. This is the nice thing about not having a dinner ADR. So, we swam and hung by the pool for quite awhile. My son and brother had fun suprising me with various frozen drinks, which I was happy to indulge in. Strawberry Sunrise was my favorite. After some time by the pool we decided on checking out Shutters so we got dressed and headed toward OPR. I believe we got there about 5:00pm with no ADR and waited 5 minutes to be seated. The kids did some great pin trading with the CMs while waiting. By this time my DS had decided to add the alphabet pins to his list of themes and he was able to score the M! :cool1: He was PSYCHED! So, off to Shutters we went. My DH and I ordered two different steak dishes and my DB some sort of fish. My DS had soup and meatballs I think and my DD, well I wish I could say she ate, but as usually she didn't. How does she grow? :confused3 Overall, our food was good. My DH's steak was fabulous! So juicy with a great taste. Wish I could remember the specific menu names. The CMs were nice and did some more pin trading with my kids during dinner. If we stayed at CBR again, we would eat here again, but not make a special effort to do so. Here is my very yummy dessert though:
SAM_0613.jpg

It didn't compare to the YUMMY, AMAZING desserts at Akershus, but it was good!
As we walked out of OPR, we decided to walk over to Caribbean Cay. Well, really I should say I did. The rest of my family said "You want to WALK around somewhere?!". So off to check out the little island we went. ;)
SAM_0614.jpg

Sorry it is so dark. As you will see in some of the pics, I was still learning how to use my new camera. The Uncle made it into this pic!!
SAM_0615.jpg

Trinidad from CB.
And here is the pool area:
SAM_0617.jpg

They close parts of Caribbean Cay at night so it was a short walk, but here are some more pics:

CBR really was a nice, quiet and relaxing resort that did make you feel like you were away from it all, which we loved. That is why we picked CBR!
Ok, well none of us seem to remember what we did after this. We spent almost every night in a park so I think we must have gone somewhere? This may have been the night we went shopping at the CBR giftshop and bought the girls matching pink Mickey Crocs and DS Pluto and Mickey glove Jibbetz. Well, I guess that means were are moving to Day 5........

Thank you! I loved those Minnie dresses! I would love to see pics of the dresses you make. As far as taking my kids out of school, it is frowned upon. My kids go to private school and they are not too happy about taking your kids out as a rule but his teacher was very understanding. However, they will not allow you to do work ahead of time so that made for a very busy return week, but we got it done! DD 5 is only in pre-K. I hear the public school here sends you a nasty letter if you pull your kids out. I will always try to avoid school vacation if we can.

Glad you enjoyed Shutters, we haven't eaten there in a while but I remember it was good.:cool1:

DH is looking forward to the TIKI Bar and his favorite drink called the Dirty Banana:woohoo:

Waiting for more:love:

Now I want to go back for the Dirty Banana!! :rotfl:

Ok, so now we are onto Wednesday or Day 5 of our amazing Disney Vacation. We have been saying how lucky we have been for everything to be going so well. The only things that weren't perfect were the heat and the crowds. Of course we couldn't control or change either so we actually got used to the heat or went to the pool and the crowds: well, when they got to be too much we found a quiet, shady spot somewhere and had a snack or drink or again went to the pool. I wish I could have been a fly on the wall so to speak during school vacation week to see how much more crowded that week was than ours since I was pulling my kids out to avoid crowds. :confused3
Anyway, ok, well not too big of a surprise...we all slept in again. We did go to OPR for breakfast and again DS had the Bounty Platter. There were some yummy looking pastries that I kept saying I was going to try, but never did. So, off to Epcot we went.
SAM_0624.jpg

Maybe someday my kids will actually see the Lion King, one of the only Disney movies my kids have not seen.
SAM_0628.jpg

We went straight to Soaring as this was a ride we did not do last time. We used the Baby Swap and all got to ride. When the first round of people were on Soaring, my brother and I took baby on the river ride inside the Land. This was surprisingly interesting. I loved learning about how they are researching various ways to grow fruits and veggies.
Look at this 9 pound lemon!
SAM_0637.jpg

I would love to have these pumpkins hanging in my yard every Fall:
SAM_0635.jpg

After the river greenhouse tour we all got back to the entrance to Soaring at the same time and took our turn. By the way, Soaring was great! Another top 3 for my DD5 and me!
Now it was time to head to our 1:30pm ADR at Akershus!
SAM_0639.jpg

This was another highly anticipated meal! So, we arrive a few minutes early which was a good thing because the line to check in was a little long. We waited in the sun for a few minutes and were very happy to get our royal named called. First, we met Belle. The baby surprisingly wanted nothing to do with her, just woke up from a nap. Belle very sweetly tried to engage her. My pics of Belle were not good. Luckily we had the picture come with the deal so I have them :).
I have read other people say that they didn't think this building was anything special, but I thought it was very pretty and enjoyed looking around while waiting for the princesses.
SAM_0648.jpg

I think I was just as excited for them to walk out as my DD5. I couldn't wait to see who would be greeting us today. My DD5's 2 wishes were Jasmine and Ariel with Ariel being wished for the most :goodvibes. So, out first was Aurora, who is actually DD5's favorite, but she had met her in 2008. She was still thrilled to see her on her way nonetheless. Princess Aurora apparently did not approve of baby's eating habits. She was so sweet wiping her face.
SAM_0653.jpg

Look at how happy DD5 was with her favorite Princess:
SAM_0657.jpg

They were all thrilled to meet Snow White and DD5 got her forhead kissed again!
SAM_0662.jpg

Then it was Cindy. The second the baby say her she started yelling "Cinwella, Cindwella!!" so we were happy when she finally made it over to her. The baby demanded to be out of her highchair and scooted over on her bum to meet Cindy!
SAM_0668.jpg

So now we have met 4 princesses and we weren't sure if there were anymore and then I saw her.....it was ARIEL! We were so excited!!
SAM_0679.jpg

She was lovely; played with DS's hair and spent quite a bit of time with us.
So now that we have seen the beautiful ladies it is time to talk food. This was the BEST meal we had all week and I really do think we had some good ADRs. I really wasn't expecting too much being a character meal and also did not know what to think of it being a Norwegian place, but we were so thrilled we made this ADR. First, we helped ourselves to the appetizer buffet. The shrimp salad was so tasty and light. The meats and veggies were all fresh. Then came our meals, which I again was distracted by the characters so can't be too detailed. I had the chicken sandwich was amazing and not a typical sandwich. Again, my brother had fish and ate every bite. My DH liked his and I can't recall what he had. Then came the desserts. They serve multiple and various desserts to your table. One was a pastry filled with fruit and maybe cream cheese, but it was beyond yummy. Then there was the best chocolate cake I have ever had. There were 2 other desserts that I can't recall but they were equally good. I will definately be returning to this place and not just for the princesses.
Next, it was off to explore more of Epcot and a theme was emerging. We were noticing that we were trying and experiencing things that we had overlooked last time. The Land, Spaceship Earth, Kim Possible, Figment and Innovations were some of these overlooked experiences. First, Innovations. I had totally skipped this last time and I have to admit that I only decided to check it out this time because I wanted AC. Well, the 2 oldest and I decided to see what the "Pig" thing was all about and boy, were we glad we did. We answered our questions, received our piggy bank and were off to learn about saving money. Of course, we all picked going on an amazing vacation as our goal. So, we put our $ in the right places, learned to hide it and diversify and attempted to avoid deflation. My kids LOVED this. Unfortunately we did not save enough for our vacation so you know what this meant? Back in we go to try again.
SAM_0696.jpg

After this we found Kim Possible.
Now, my kids do not watch this show, not that I would have a problem with it.
I had heard a little about this, but did not really know what we were getting into when I got our ticket. By the description, this was right up my son's alley. So, we were told to go to Norway at 4:45. We made it to Norway and my son got his phone. He was hooked right then. His first mission was Mexico.
SAM_0703.jpg

We made it to Mexico and he was thrilled to see that he could manipulate the environment with his phone, but we had to hide because the bad guys might see us! :goodvibes My DD 5 joined in and 3 hours later we were in France doing our 4th mission! My son could have done this all night. We had to practically pry it out of his hands. The fabulous thing for everyone was that we saw way more of the countries than we had ever bothered to see last time. We sat on the streets of France enjoying a snack. We made a gargoyle stick his tongue out at us in a museum and flooded bad guys out of their apartment and had golf balls come out of telephone booths in England. So fun! What an amazing experience that we almost walked right by.
Here are some pics we took along the way:
SAM_0709.jpg

SAM_0707.jpg

My kids loved the Figment ride and all 3 had fun in the workshop afterward, especially playing music with their feet.
SAM_0693.jpg

So we stayed for Illuminations. We bought some baked goods from was it Merekesh? and enjoyed them during the show. Then it was onto a busy bus for the ride home. I think we managed to swim when we got back, but we were out when we finally laid down. :cloud9:

Love the update! We went for February vacation and stayed at The Beach Club and there was not many people there. The parks were crowded but nothing to speak of . In March my son said they stopped letting people in the Mk because the park was full (can't remember what day):confused3.

I love the matching outfits on your girls!! When my girls were younger I did the same thing. Now they are 11 and 14 and they won't go for it. lol

Maybe it is a matter of getting lucky with the crowds? I wonder what April vacation week was like. My friend goes every March and it sounds fairly crowded by what she says. Who knows? Tell me about the Beach Club. I would like to stay there and AKL someday.

Thanks! I have been dressing them alike as much as I can since the youngest was born b/c I know someday they will say NO Way! Right now they both love it and so does Mommy! Thanks for reading!

AAaaaargh!! I just completed the first part of Day 6 and then didn't copy it before checking it and then lost it when I had to sign back in. So frustrated!:headache::mad::headache:

It's a pirate's life for us on day 6! We woke up and headed to MK for the kids' 10:00am reservation at the Pirate's League. We got there a few minutes before our time and were taken right in. This was a day that we had talked about quite a bit when planning our vacation. The kids were a little nervous about the pirates, but I told them there would be minimal sword fighting and not to worry. :rotfl: First, they had to get their pirate names. DD5 was Kate Yellowbellows and DS was Basil Rathbone. So it was a spin of the wheel and a shake of the dice:
SAM_0720.jpg

SAM_0721.jpg

SAM_0725.jpg

Then Kate and Basil were off to become real pirates. Kate thought it was very funny that she got a "boy" pirate and that he knew how to paint her nails. So, Kate picked out her nail polish and lip gloss color, bandana, eye patch and bag while Basil fought 10 pirates and ended up with quite the scar.
SAM_0747.jpg

SAM_0745.jpg

All day long no matter if we were in MK or the pool, people were asking him how he got his scar and reminding him to shave. :)
Then every pirate has to take the pirate oath and pledge to be "trusted not to be trusted". Basil loved this oath.
SAM_0757.jpg

SAM_0768.jpg

SAM_0771.jpg

Now to wait for their swords and their moment in the secret room. Sorry, but we can never tell what happens in the secret room. ;)
SAM_0783.jpg

And now here are my Mighty Pirates. Basil was still wondering if he might need to use his sword to defend his new found gold. pirate: Aaargh, did I say gold?
SAM_0788.jpg

SAM_0801.jpg

And what do you do once you have become a pirate Matey?? You ride the POTC! Yo ho ho it's a pirate's life for me! After that it was off to Aladdin's Magic Carpets and lunch at El Pirato e Perico (I am sure I spelled that wrong). Then off to Mickey's Toon Town for the Barnstormer and a bit of unexpected pixie dust........

oh and I forgot to mention that we loved it and would definately do it again! It was so great to have an experience that both a girl and a boy could enjoy at the same time!

I've been reading along but haven't had time to post since it's been so busy at work (you know....trying to get all the deadlines met before I leave for Disney). Your pictures at the character meals are so cute. That one incident with the bacon scared the daylights out of me so I can imagine how you were left feeling.

I love how your son had no problems greeting the princesses. He's gonna be a lady killer one day.
