Trip was wonderful although with an overbearing cloud of doom courtesy of all the crap DBF is dealing with. Not going to discuss the details here...
But suffice to say everything that could go wrong has gone wrong. Car troubles, health troubles....and being dragged to court by an ex with nothing to lose (more money than sense)

It was still wonderful the time we had together though.
Just frustrating

I am and made sure he did between panics.
It's a bit amusing he is/was the one saying we had to focus on enjoying on the moment...and still believes it...but it's me enforcing the rule now.

He's a wonderful man who's just been hit by a lot of crap at once....and because I love him I'll be there for him through it and am doing my best even from afar...

It was the driving force of this trip. His job calls for his more focused attention in June with the Jubilee, then full force for the Olympics...so I wanted to fit in a trip before all that. And...before the looming court case.
We were going through a lot and ups and downs leading up including a nasty fight. But this trip was wonderful inspite of all the troubles.

Switzerland in October. Going to be a long 5 months but although if I didn't have a job to return to I might have hung around longer. Even doing that would be complicated...and with a job I can afford Switzerland extras either side of the 7 nights accommodation I won

Yup

So I need to try and work out how to do the full Glacier express best. I'd likely land in Zurich...go to St Moritz...then to Zermatt...

But it's all a bit over my head at the moment. I'm just keeping an eye on airfares.

I'm watching for trips just to London as well as to Europe. Then just doing the short hop separately

Yup...I'm not too fussed about finding something immediately. Just in contact with the hotel to get that part booked. Still waiting to hear back.

Flight deals these days are coming and going all the time...

I've floated the idea of using points...but that needs more planning ahead and I don't have fixed dates yet. I do have enough for first class though I think

I know either way it will be a splurge....but have you ever travelled around Christmas?
Like most professional companies they shut from about 21st Dec - end of first week of Jan. And the first week back is slow...

Do you know when they "might" have anything resembling a "sale"?

No "sale" at Christmas. You kinda have to travel before the middle of November in order to get a decent fare.

The last time I went at Christmas time, I think I paid around $2K for economy.

If I knew I was working for sure I'd lock in the correct dates even at higher prices....
But not knowing is so frustrating....

So you planning any trips anywhere? You were thinking of the snow I think next?

Still thinking of the snow.

But we have family coming at the end of June; so I'm still thinking around that timeframe.
