FWIW, we have a 2yo Tom Tom and just bought my dad and FIL Garmins (Model 205W) and to be honest... we like the Tom Tom better!

The interface and way it works w/ the computer is SO much easier.

Although I just listened to a voicemail from FIL who called just to thank us (again) because he loves his GPS so much!

I can't remember which model Tom Tom we have (dh has it right now) but it wasn't overly expensive and it has the smaller screen.

I have the Garmin 265T and I LOVE IT!!! It has bluetooth, FM traffic and a bunch of other stuff I have not quite figured out. My kids hate the voice that talks on it because it does talk quite often. You could choose from voices (Samantha or Jack) and since my BFF is named Samantha that is the one we chose...lol

I got a refurbished Magellan for Christmas. I found a deal $119 + free shipping on amazon.com. It has a 4.3" touch screen and is blue-tooth enabled. I don't know much about it know, but BIL has the same one and loves it.

love my garmin nuvi 255w! way better than my tom tom one. I love that it says the street names, I like the display of the speed limit and what speed I am driving. picture is clear and bright, and it recalculates in a snap!

We have the Garmin Nuvi 250, and we love it!

We picked a female voice with a British accent, and haven't named her yet..... but we love her. Especially when she says 'recalculating' with that accent!

You can't go wrong with Garmins!

You can get really good deals on Amazon. There was one we looked at a few months ago and it was VERY cheap (for a good model, it was $150...can't remember which model, but it was 1/2 off).

Throw me in the 255W lover pile! It is the more updated version of the 205W.

FWIW, if I had the $300, I'd have gone with the 265T. But to me, it was just a little bit too much money.

And, keep in mind, that you can't use MSN direct or FM traffic without receivers for each (the 265T has an integrated FM traffic receiver).
