gps watch

Interesting. I was finding that the phone apps were short rather then long. Like I ran 11 miles on a marked path and runkeeper told me I'd run 13.5 miles. My pace was pretty awesome according to runkeeper dde09 too bad it wasn't accurate!

That kept happening to me with Runkeeper and that's why I ended up getting a Garmin. My first 10k race was earlier this year and runkeeper told me it was more than 8 miles :(

I never had a problem with my run keeper I did a half two weeks ago and it said I did 13.4 only because I didn't shut my App at the Finish line, I do want to treat myself to a garmin watch though because I hate having to carry my phone or strapped to my arm or put it around my waist

I got a Garmin Forerunner 610 from Craigslist - from a guy who posted "I thought buying this would make me run more, but it hasn't." Paid less than half the price for a watch that had been used maybe twice. It's much fancier than I need, but the price was right!

I bought this one to replace the 10, which did the same thing to me as it has to others on the board - battery died 15 minutes before I finished my race.

I have a Garmin 220. I love it! It does all of the things you mentioned, and I have never had trouble with battery life. Now, I have never run further than 14.5 miles (and I'm not really planning to), so I don't know if it will hold up for a marathon.

I'm so annoyed because a friend said this the other day too. "Never had a problem." Grr. I used it again today and it said I went a full mile more then I actually did. Maybe I should un-install and re-install it on my phone.

I always carry my phone for safety, but having the watch, I don't need to ever take it out. It definitely saves the battery!

I have the Garmin 610 and love it. The battery life is fine. The tower run 2 weeks ago it measured 10.13 miles. Pretty close for me. I did not use my cell to track at all. Just to play Disney music.

Another 610 lover here :thumbsup2

I am also a Garmin 610 user - have been for 2 years now. I had to replace my first 610 because of water damage from a rain storm. I got in just under the end of the warranty. They replaced it with no issue, and the replacement (refurb) has been even better than my first one.

I will have to replace it soon, as I know that the battery can only be recharged so mant times and I am well past 100 recharges, but it has been my best training watch/GPS. I'll probably try the 620 next.

I am currently using a Garmin 110, but it's a loaner from a friend and I'm considering purchasing something similar. Seems to be dead-on time and distance-wise... I really like it. I haven't used it long enough to comment on the battery time, but I used it for about 3 hours last weekend and it looked like it drained less than half of the battery.

I also use Runkeeper, and it does tend to show that I've gone a little further than I actually have. During last year's Wine & Dine it was over by almost a mile (or it could be that I just weave a lot :)).

I use the New Balance NX950 and I really like it. I read reviews comparing it to the Garmin Forerunner and for my $, I think I got the better end of the deal. I got it for $79 new on Amazon and it lasts weeks without needing to recharge (12 hour active battery life).

The bells and whistles aren't all the same, but I find the pace/distance to be accurate, I can upload my data, save my runs and get everything I need from it.

I hardly ever read/hear about others using it, but I highly recommend it!

I think I'm the oddball in the group. I use the Nike Sportwatch plus. All my running buddies have different Garmins.

I went with the Nike because I didn't want another cord to manage for charging and data transfer. With the Nike their is a usb adapter built into the band. It's one less thing for me to forget when I travel.
