Government Employees Travel Opportunity

Thanks to everyone for their input. For some reason I wasn't getting my daily updates from Disboards or I would have replied sooner. I'm so glad to know that it isn't a "too good to be true" deal. Thanks also for posting the other government travel opportunities that are available.

This is great, but how do you search for like a place in Gatlinburg? My DH is a federal employee but I have never heard of this.

Nevermind, I found it but they don't have anything.

We have used them with no problems. The $329 price with tax comes to $371.77. Many of the resorts are older and many of the weeks available are only l bedroom units. If you can go at off season times, you can usually find something. Just like Skyauction, we have noticed that many of the nicer resorts are no longer showing up on the GETO site.

My son is a State employee so he would qualify I suppose. Is it possible to make two reservations? There are five in his family and two in ours but we would be better off with two separate areas. TIA.

I think the tax must differ depending on where you book. We ended up booking my sister's condo for her and the rate with tax was just over $348.00! Great deal...

I read on their site where you can book up to 5 units as long as you are traveling with the party.

We'll let you know how it works for my sister and her two weeks but from what I hear it seems to be great. What a wonderful deal to get a week in a 2 BR condo for $350-ish.

We have used them a couple of times thru my Father.

1 was a 2 BR at Silver Lakes in Orlando...awesome location, right next to Animal Kingdom

1 was in Galtinburg (just me and the wife, 1 think it was a 1BR).

Both were nice and clean and had full kitchens. My extended family has also used them for other places in Florida as well as Myrtel Beach.

Hoping to use them again next June for another Diseny trip.

This whole thing sounds really, really too good to be true. $329 for a WEEk in a condo with a kitchen? No timeshare presentation? Seriously, NO catch? No horror stories?

no catch! no horror stories!

I've used AFVC (same as GETO) 3 times and GovArm once. I always check those sites before anything else!

DH and I are both retired Federal Employees....wonder if we could use this. I will have to go to the site and research. :surfweb:

Ok I am back!! Happy to say everything was PERFECT! No time share push- condo was wonderful. Will definitely use again.

Where did you go?

This does sound great - would love to hear everyone's experiences!

I went to Disney- we stayed at Wyndham Cypress Palms, we were about 10 minutes from the parks. Seriously was very very impressed with the condo- we also checked out Silver Lake and it was very nice also!
