Bit of a ramble this....(sorry!)....something really awful happened in our school the other weekend. I couldn't post about it as it was too upsetting to think about. We came into work on the Monday morning to discover that the WHOLE school had been vandalised over the weekend. Every room had been trashed, windows smashed, children's work ripped, walls sprayed with paint, toys smashed in the nursery, carpets ruined with paint and ketchup and squash poured over them (unfortunately we had a lot of bottles in the school at the time, as we were collecting for the Tombola at the school fete). The place was in ruins and we had no alternative but to close to children for 2 days while we all rolled up our sleeves and cleaned and made the place safe again for the childen.
The one good thing to come pout of this was how the local community rallied round - we had so many messages of support and so many offers of help and goods for the school fete. The fete went ahead and loads of people came and it was a great success.
Now today we have heard that a friend of a friend of a member of staff works for Disney and next week we will be receiving a delivery of toys and books from them to help replace ones that were ruined during the break-in. I think this is a fantastic gesture from the company.
Don't you just love them??
