Bit of a ramble this....(sorry!)....something really awful happened in our school the other weekend. I couldn't post about it as it was too upsetting to think about. We came into work on the Monday morning to discover that the WHOLE school had been vandalised over the weekend. Every room had been trashed, windows smashed, children's work ripped, walls sprayed with paint, toys smashed in the nursery, carpets ruined with paint and ketchup and squash poured over them (unfortunately we had a lot of bottles in the school at the time, as we were collecting for the Tombola at the school fete). The place was in ruins and we had no alternative but to close to children for 2 days while we all rolled up our sleeves and cleaned and made the place safe again for the childen.
The one good thing to come pout of this was how the local community rallied round - we had so many messages of support and so many offers of help and goods for the school fete. The fete went ahead and loads of people came and it was a great success.
Now today we have heard that a friend of a friend of a member of staff works for Disney and next week we will be receiving a delivery of toys and books from them to help replace ones that were ruined during the break-in. I think this is a fantastic gesture from the company. Don't you just love them??

what a terrible thing to happen, i can quite see how you were to upset to post about it, but what a wonderful gesture from Disney.:goodvibes

what a shocking thing to happen, it is beyond words, though well done Disney for helping out.

What a terrible thing to happen. Thank goodness Disney are going to make it a little better :thumbsup2

What a horrible thing to do, I will never understand why people do things like that. :confused3 At least everyone pulled together tho to sort it out. :goodvibes

What an awful thing to happen, I can't understand how people can get pleasure from doing something like this. So nice that the community rallied round and that Disney are helping out too.

That is so wonderful. :goodvibes Over here, Disney have something called VoluntEARS who help out charities and special events with a Disney touch. It's so nice to hear about all the help they have given to those less fortunate or in need.

What a terrible thing to happen but that's so great about the toys :)

Good on Disney:thumbsup2

The stuff arrived - it is superb!:goodvibes
Loads and loads of boxed toys and boxes and boxes of books and activities. The teachers are all really excited. As we are so near the end of term they will be distributed around the classes during the holiday for the lucky children in September.

That's a Horrible thing to happen, but well done Disney! :thumbsup2

Glad you are getting some support after such a horrid experience
