Gotta ask about 1 bathroom, 6 people, 1 cabin

I am thinking about renting a cabin in September for my family of 6, and really want to rent a cabin rather than the new family suites at ASMu; I'm trying to put us in one of these rather than 2 rooms. I searched around this forum, and found some posts about this particular subject, of having one bathroom for 6 people, but not the definitive answer, so, wonderful DISers, please impart your wisdom. Cabins in loop 2100, which are nearest to the 1100 loop facilities, or the cabins in the 2500 loop, which is nearest the pool and it's facilities [or am I wrong about toilets and showers there?] ~ which, if either, is the better place to be?

Yes the cabins only have 1 bathroom, however we never really found it to be a problem. I am talking 3 girls and 2 women and 1 male. You just work around a schedule. Some take their baths showers at night and some in the morning. It all works out, kitchen has a sink as well so you can brush teeth etc there. We loved the cabins.

Yeah, 6 usually doesn't fit into 1, and I'm trying to avoid fract...ures, as six people fight for the sole toilet!

The cabin loop closet to the 1100 loop is your best choice, I don't think the pool area has showers, but I never really checked. FW comfort stations are usually very clean and nice plus they have tons of hot water, my teenage daughter has been known to stay in those showers for an hour.

My DD stayed in a cabin with 6 and sent the older kids to the showers with us. We were at a camp site.

We have done it both ways-cabins and 2 rooms at a value.
Either one worked out just fine for us bathroom-wise. I always preferred staying at the cabins even with an extra bath in the 2 rooms. The cabins are cozy and comfy-and we love sitting outside at night after the kids are in bed. It is very relaxing. I guess I am trying to say that there are so many great things about the cabins that we don't miss the second bathroom.

I think your comfort level will depend on showering habits etc. We have stayed at the cabins several times with 6 of us and have loved it. That said, this did not factor in teenage girls.

The last time we stayed there our kids were: DS 14, DS 11, DD 6, DS 5.
Our boys don't spend too much time showering, they tend to get clean and get out, and we worked out am/pm schedules. DH isn't one to linger in the bathroom either. We spent lots of time in the parks, had great breakfasts and some dinners back at the cabin-it was so nice to come back and swim for a while, then rest, eat and go back to a park.

Depends on what you're used to. A vacation is NOT the time to start a new life style, IMO. We recently came back from an 18-day trip to Hawaii, split among 3 islands. Accomodations on 2 islands had 2 bathrooms (we are a party of 4--mom, dad, dd9 ds9) The third place was a one bdr, one bath condo. That turned out to be our worst stay. We simply aren't used to sharing a bathroom and teaching my kids new habits while on vacation proved stressful, to say the least. At least we were just one family, I can't imagine trying to share facilities with friends, etc. We decided after that experience that rule one of traveling from now on--2 bathrooms, if it means two adjoining rooms, or a condo/cabin with 2 bathrooms, whatever. We're on vacation for enjoyment, not to start a new lifestyle. It would be like starting a diet while on vacation!

Like everyone else said it all depends on what your used too. We are a family of 6 (including my mom who lives with us) who are used to 2 1/2 bathrooms at home. We really did not have that big of a problem. We split the showers up between morning & evenings. The bonuses of the cabins are the extra sink in the kitchen for brushing teeth and the nice mirror and hair dryer in the bedroom for those teenagers.

We really enjoyed the cabins. I was thinking about staying at the ASM's family suites just to see what they're like, but I don't think I want to give up the kitchen. That worked out the best for my family.

The cabins are great. That said if you need to be near a comfort station request a cabin in the 2500 loop near the ends of what is a rather small loop. You are also close to a comfort station in 2100 and 2200 but the best is the 2500 loop, which is right by the quiet pool.All comfort stations have showers and laundry facilities. Have a great trip.

Speaking of the bathrooms @ FW, I had a question myself...When I stayed at FW, it was 20 years ago and the cabins then were trailers.
Does anyone know if there is a difference between the trailers and cabins (did the exerior just have a facelifet or interior as well)? And does anyone know how big the bathrooms are? Are they comfortable size? Is there an outside vanity like the regular hotel rooms? From what I remember of the bathrooms, they were the size of a bathroom in a RV! Way too small! But I don't know if that's changed.

Its not the showering habits that I would be concerned about.

BUT I stand by my answer. None of us tend to dawdle in the loo for ANY reason so we are lucky. AND I might add the exhaust fans work well.

Now that's out of the way...the bathrooms are of adequate size, with a nice
sized vanity and underneath are extra towels, TP, etc. If I remember correctly they also had a hair dryer built in. Good sized mirror also.

Do they have full facilities at the 2500 loop pool? I'm not sure that they do.

We are ok with one bath, but we're only 4 people. And our 5 year old prefers to use public restrooms, usually right when our food arrives at restaurants. His nickname (family only, and now the DIS, I guess) is "PIP"

Wow, it's really wierd, I thought I had posted a reply on here, thanking everyone for their imput -can always count on DISers! - and asking for verification about Gillian's question, but maybe I just typed it up and didn't post it.. Oh, well. Are there toilets and showers at the quiet pool? Thanks again, so much!

The only showers at the pools are outside for rinsing off by the pool. They do not have the bath showers inside.

we had 4 people in 1 cabin and it worked out really good, actually. my fiance and i took our showers at night and his mother and aunt took their showers in the morning. we worked out a schedule. it really wasn't a problem
