Got Wishes - now a question

I was able to get a Wishes Cruise for October 12. Having read about the price increases, I was expecting $187 - but the CM first quoated me $234.

Worried that he had booked the wrong thing, I questioned the price and he said there was one that was $187 and that the difference was that the boat was smaller.

Does anyone know how much smaller this boat might be? The cruise maximum I was told was 10 for either price - although I had expected to be able to do 12 since two passengers are five and under.

I already frustrated that the October trip planners are taking a lot of hits (at least those past Oct 4) - no free dining, new AP rules that omitted October 8-15, price increases . . . and now smaller boats!

I haven't done the Wishes cruise, so I'm sorry but don't know. BUT, the cardinal rule is to always call back and ask a different cast member whenever you get a confusing or less than satisfactory answer. Hopefully, someone else can explain it in more detail. That does sound costly, but will probably be a wonderful memory. (We hosted an Illuminations cruise for friends, and it was great) Good luck!

The smaller boat holds about six people comfortably, there are two benches along the front of the boat and then the drivers seat.

i don't know how you got such an expensive wishes cruise. i booked mine a few weeks ago and it's only costing me $140. i would definitely get on the horn and find out how much this cruise is really calling you.

The price is going up, and will include beverages and simple snacks --- not an option to omit this.

Look for another post about this. That poster said the lower price is for 8 guests and the price goes up for 10 guests.

We had a "smaller" boat in March on the Wishes Cruise. There were 5 of us (3 adults, 2 kids) and the captain. I think we could have fit 3 more people on there comfortably.

This information is from allears (thanks, Deb). It is for the Illuminations cruise not Wishes. Are you sure they didn't book you for an Illuminations cruise and not Wishes?

Prices for IllumiNations Cruises as of 10/1/05 (currently booking) have increased as follows:

Pontoon Basic: $187.79 + tax includes boat, driver, water, Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, and bagged snacks (chips, pretzels, popcorn). (Note that you can no longer book only the boat and driver.)

Pontoon Celebration: $211.26 + tax includes all of the above plus decorations (banner, balloons). Unlike previous celebration cruises, this cruise does NOT include cake.

Any additional items, such as cake, alcohol, pizza, etc., must be set up through the Yacht Club's Private Dining (room service), which will bill you accordingly. Cruises will not pick up passengers at the BoardWalk's Friendship Dock. After the show passengers can be dropped off at any open dock -- Epcot, BoardWalk, Swan & Dolphin, or Disney-MGM Studios.

I'm the one who posted about how many the boat can now hold. We have always been able to hold 12 and now they are saying 10. If you go over 8, they charge you around $240.00. This really stinks, as this is something we have always done with 2 other families and now we can't fit anymore.

I knew all about the price increases for cruises after October 1 - so I was expecting the 187 - I just wasn't expecting to get even less for a higher price!

Thanks for description of the "small" boat - sounds like we'll be fine. There are still some differences between how many passangers -

When the CM was booking me for the $234 "standard" cruise in the bigger boat, the number of people was 10, regardless of age. When I switched to the $187 smaller boat (same amenities), the number of people was still 10 - strange isn't it.

And I too was hoping to invite another family along. Sounds like on the smaller boat I better just stick to our group of 7 -

Thanks for the info!
