Hi all,
I just wanted to thank everyone for their great advice on this board. This was the first time I had used Priceline & I got the hotel that I wanted.
We are staying one night in Miami pre-cruise (Explorer)and I really wanted the Fountainblue Hilton (I stayed there when I was a little kid years ago & I never forgot that hotel). I really did not want the two other resort categories priceline uses Eden Roc & Beach House, I would not have minded the Sheraton Bal Harbor though. So I took a chance.
I had a feeling that if I tried late in the evening & bid over 65.00 that I would get the Fountainblue, so I went to priceline at 11:30 PM & bid 75.00. I held my breath while it was processing & was overjoyed to see the Fountainbleau listed.
My total price for the hotel (we will not be renting a car) was 91.81, not bad considering that Hilton.com's site cheapest room is listed at 143.00 when you pre-pay. Expedia's cheapest rate for a standard room was 159.00.
I just feel so lucky that I got the hotel that I wanted, even though it's only for one night. It will bring back so many memories to stay at the hotel that I stayed at as a child.
My mom still has a picture of me in my bikini when I was 8 at the Fountainblue. Well I am definately no longer in bikini shape ( ; but I am so thrilled to be going there again!
Just wanted to thank everyone again for the great advice.
