After reading all the reviews for the Poly lately, I have decided to wait until after the refurb to stay at the Polynesian. For that type of $$$, I want a clean, new room. We decided on Boardwalk Inn, Standard room and after researching it, we are very excited! Can anyone comment on the BWI?

We are using the 30% discount certificate we received due to class action lawsuit regarding travel insurance on the Disney website. Reduces the rate from $294/night to $205/night.

wow! that's great news! i just got my class action letter in the mail w/the 30% off offer in it... not sure what to do now!

I can't comment on the rooms (I have never stayed at the BWI, but have stayed several times at BWV), but the location is great. You can walk (or take a boat) to EPCOT and MGM. There are lots of restaurants in the area (including the Swan and Dophin). There are usually fun things going on at night with street entertainers and just sitting out on the Boardwalk for the view is enjoyable. We love it - hope you do too!

The Boardwalk is my FAAAAAAAAAAVORITE resort! There are plenty of threads about it, you just have to look back.

Pros:
Location! Inbetween MGM and Epcot
Boardwalk Entertainment
The Brewery, ESPN, Spoodles, Flying Fish Cafe & YC/BC, Swain, & Dolphin restaurants
200ft Waterslide!!! :3dglasses

Im sure theres more! :p

Cons
Bus Ride to MK/AKL *Unless you take the walk through Epcot and use the monorail!

This is by far my favorite resort, nothing beats the lake view!

What is this class action lawsuit, we have taken travel insurance on every trip since 2001.
Thanks,
Shelby

Did you book through the Disney website? The class action lawsuit was the result of the fact that insurance was automatically checked, you had to deselect it not to get charged. The lawsuit said it should have been the other way around, you have to check it if you want it.

Okay, we never booked through the website, but have used it for quotes, and gosh, this seems like the stupidest thing I've heard of. To think it's annoying is one thing, to sue over it seems extreme.

I've booked online before but this is the first i've heard of this. How did you find out about it?

We just got back from staying at the Poly we were there right before our cruise. May 11th through may15. We had a great stay. Our room was very clean. We stayed in Figi. I wish I was there right now its raining and cold here in Jersey.
The Poly is our favorite resort

Actually the lawsuit was due to the fact the insurance was automatic and I don't believe you could opt out of it (maybe if you called you could get the charge credited back to your account). This goes to deceptive advertising practices and I'm guessing Disney got smacked around by the States Attorneys General too.

Currently they have the insurance as a prechecked box that you have to uncheck to opt out, so that wasn't the source of suit.

I got my 30% off certificate yesterday. I figured I wouldn't be able to use it since I had already booked my package in early May, but I called today and spoke to a very nice CM named Nina (a bit hard to understand, but only because my ear isn't attuned to the Latino accent), who realized that she wouldn't be able to do the standard cancel-and-rebook procedure so called her supervisor to get the discount for me. We're only saving about $300, but hey: $300 means a few more nice meals and souvenirs! :goodvibes

were you able to get the discount on your entire package or did you have to rebook room only?

we were notified some months ago that there was a class action suit pending and we had to sign and send back, indicating how we wanted settlement (30% off, some souvenier, movie tickets maybe? i don't remember but the only one w/any "real" value to me was the 30% off)... but i had completely forgotten about it, so i was pleasantly surprised when it was in my mail box this morning!

of course it means reworking our entire trip to maximize the savings... sigh & LOL!

Because I had booked a complete package with airfare (on the Internet; I don't know if that made any difference), the CM couldn't actually "re"book anything. She got her supervisor to apply the discount to the room portion of our package only: the 30% off did not apply to our MYW tickets nor to our airfare, only to the seven-night stay in our room at POFQ. It saved $313.30.

In answer to your question.... we stayed at BWI last year during the 1st of June in a standard veiw room. We loved it. I do not think i could enjoy a better view. Request an Epcot Fireworks view overlooking those Garden Suites! I do not remember the room number, but it was delightful!! a great view of the Eiffel Tower!! let me know if it works out. We loved BWI, that is a great rate. Enjoy! :flower:
