As we were leaving for a short 4 day vacation in the Outer Banks last Thursday, I received a call from my guide to let me know that, after waiting two weeks, my Feb points came through and we are now first time owners at the Beach Club! (for those interested it was 210 points at $92 a point - the guide said a large bunch of points had just come in.)

It was a great start to a vacation and we look forward to taking a quick va-ca at Disney in July or August. Hopefully it wont be too hot but SAB should keep my wife cool.

And talk about perfect timing!! For the last two years as owners in the Outer Banks we've been going crazy trying to think of a new name for our summer house (currently called Ariels Cottage by a previous owner - after his daughter - and came up with two options- Summer Land (short for my son's favorite mini golf course by Blizzard Beach), or Beach Club!

The vote was unanimous - The new name is "Beach Club"

Congratulations and Welcome Home! And Welcome to the DIS, too!

Welcome home OP!

Just to clarify, I'm assuming, since you used the word guide, that these points were obtained through DVC and not through resale?????? The reason I'm asking is that $92/ponit seems low to me right now for BCV. DVC must be doing this as a service to the members rather than a money maker. How much money could there be on a 210 point contract? ROFR price had to be a minimum of $89/point. That leaves $3/point profit for DVC. $3 x 210 = $630. With the time, phone calls, paperwork, etc. it hardly seems worth it from DVC's standpoint. Well, I'm going to start a thread about this. Thanks and once again welcome home! :thumbsup2

It was $92 per point and I just received the contact in the mail. And it was through Disney although two days later the Timeshare Store called with points at $96 per point.

Since I had first started talking to the DVC on March 28th, they gave me a guarantee of holding the price to $92 until they came in or a change in price. In fact they are giving me 60 days to pay all the fees, no interest.

So you are right there may not be much of a profit but I have a feeling they have a way of making up for it in the future visits. And I'm sure there are unique accounting practices that allow them to write off the costs.

I visited a friend staying at the Hard Rock Hotel in Universal (he was an NBC exec and had free room and tickets and gave us free fast passes to all the rides (we got through all the rides in the two parks in 7 hours) but the hotel did not even come close to the atmosphere of BCV especially considering the constant blaring of the rock music (which I like but not all day).
