Got the BCV

I am a new SSR owner and have my first trip booked for May. I am really hoping to get BCV for September 9th-16. Are studios harder to get, or doesn't it matter?

Studios are harder to get, but September is slow. You have a really good chance of not needing to use the wait list.

The problem tends to be over F&W through the holidays - and even then people get lucky either on their first call or using the waitlist. But it isn't a dependable time of year to switch.

There are a few other times that are particularly tight - and as you move away from "right at" seven months to four month or less, things get much tighter.

No not at all, you should stay where ever you want to, when ever you are able to get the reservations. If you are able to snag Christmas week at the BC, props to you, and have a glass of wine for me.

What I am saying is that it is unfortunate that WDW has built a DVC who's owners often do not view as their #1 #2 or even #3 choice. It's wrong in my eyes, to build resort A, and sell it on the merits of staying at resorts b,c,& d.

I think your perceptions may change someday if WDW builds a 4500 room resort 30 miles outside of Orlando, and sells it to new owners with the idea that they are able to book into SSR rooms that have a rack rate MUCH higher then what the new resorts rack rate is.

Enjoy your trip, I know you will have a wonderful time.

That is not what my guide did at all. My guide was wonderful and very straightforward. I wouldn't have ever really been so into switching resorts until I started posting here and heard all the wonderful things about the other resorts. Thanks in part to your posts I now know how great all those other resorts must be and will enjoy my stays at each and every one!! thanks!!:thumbsup2

Happy to hear these waitlist success stories! I am already planning our 2008 trip - can't decide if we will just stick to VWL or if we will attempt BCV at 7 months. I have ALWAYS wanted to try SAB!!!

Wow, there are quite a few folks on this message string heading to BCV the middle of August. Maybe we will run into one another for a quick coffee or something. I guess there were several rooms available at the 7 month window.

Great for YOU !!!!:dance3:
:ssst: :ssst: :ssst: :ssst: :ssst:

The "key" to getting BCV & VWL is "Planning" and calling at the 7th mo. window.
:ssst: :ssst: :ssst: :ssst: :ssst:Shush....don't tell everyone:lmao: :lmao:

(Course, every year more people who call at six months and are shut out figure that out and call earlier next year.)

IMO if you call the first week the 7 mth window opens you will be ok.

THe problem isn't the 7 mth window, the "problem" with the system, is now a BC/BW/VW owner who calls at 6 mths to get into their resort will seldom be able to.

There was no way for a BW/BC/VW owner who bought 8 years ago to know that in 2007, the majority of DVC owners would own at a resort that was not their number one choice for booking rooms.

The "rules" changed when DVC went the direction of mega sized resorts, that were not in the prime locations.

Oh well, all things change I guess, and who knows maybe someday DVC will tweak the system in such a fashion that the people who own at the smaller more popular resorts will only be able to stay at those, and no one else will be able to stay at them.

Your guide should have stressed to you the importance of the 11 month booking window for your home resort. Mine did a number of times, and I bought when OKW was the only DVC resort. Not to be harsh, but owning points at a specific resort does not guarantee you a room at that resort whenever you want it. Wasn't that made clear to you before purchasing?

mine also stressed that. i just figure if you snooze, you lose. it's to be expected. and honestly - having a beautiful villa at WDW, who really cares where it is! :cutie: at least that's the way i see it!! :hippie:

Part of the reason that we bought into the DVC is that we have sooo many options. I love to stay at different places and am looking forward to trying them all. Our first stay is at our "home resort", but I will definately try them all. Heck, I am young enough that I can settle later in life....LOL I am up for the adventure.:yay:

Just booked BCV today at my 7 month window. Not my first DVC stay, but will be my first BCV stay.

I like to try the different resorts, so will not always book at my home resort (SSR & added AKV). Of course, once the SSR new pool is completed and if it is really nice, that will probably become my son's favorite place to stay.

Also - I tried booking SSR for Spring Break and it was not available for all the dates I needed, so I had to go with OKW. Not complaining there, but even if you are not at "the smaller 3" you can still get shut out.

Count us in as another family who was able to get in at the 7 month window for 1 night in July in a 1 bdrm at BCV. We're staying there the night before our Disney Cruise followed by 5 days at SSR. DH and I stayed at the BC last year (pre-DVC) and loved it so much. We wanted our "kids" (21 and almost 18) to have a chance to experience the fun, too, albeit for just one day! :cloud9:

I just called MS to book the week of Labor Day for a one bedroom (we own at SSR, of course) and all my choices were available! Standard BWV, BWV boardwalk view AND Beach Club are all available. Decisions, decisions!!

We love the boardwalk view but I am so tempted to go with BCV because they're hard to get any other times of the year.

I would go with BCV too, since I'm guessing you will have great swimming, SAB weather!

popcorn:: watching and waiting for my 7 month window

We were all set for SSR this July, but DW decided she'd rather stay at BCV again. Since we are only about 5 months out now, I figured they wouldn't have all our nights. :sad2:
I was wrong- I booked all 14 nights in a one bedroom in mid July just 5 months out! :woohoo:
Hmmmm. I thought BCV was supposed the be the most popular and therefore the most difficult to get? :confused3 Maybe everyone has discovered how wonderful OKW and SSR are and decided to stay there instead. ;) I guess I better update my ticker!

July is a less popular season. Rainy weather and summertime busy crowds, but we still like to go too! I am a BCV owner and I was able to book a BWV Standard View for July at the 7 month window. Love to save those points with the SV!

Enjoy BCV!

We just booked a dedicated 2 BR villa at BCV yesterday for the last week in July.
