Got the BCV

We will be at BCV Aug. 16-26. I had to book the first 3 days at SSR at 11 months because we have two contracts and then call day by day at the 7month window to transfer those days to BCV. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to and we'd have to have our vacation at two different resorts, but I called day by day and had no trouble getting the days switched over. Maybe I'll see you in the pool!

OT, Susan, your cats are so sweet!!

awww thank you! :cutie: and congrats to everyone else that has also gotten BCV at 7 months, so many people said it would never happen that I was worried! we should do a mini dis-meets for all of us going in august!! I CAN'T WAIT!! :)

Congrats on getting BCV at 7 months. By the way, the DDP is totally worth it, especially if you consider that tax and tip is included in your table service meals. Althought the food is served buffet-style, the Biergarten is really cute with the oompa band. There is even a dance floor if one has had enough beers to participate!

By the way, OP, how is it living near Six Flags? Do you go all the time in season, or is it "old stuff" to you? Just curious.

the tip is included in the DDP??? wow, that would be great! we really are leaning towards doing it. i spent some time on allears looking up the prices of where we would go and it looks like just the dinners and shows we'd do would more than cover the price. so basically lunch and snacks would be free! i love the biergarten, my fave german restaurant with a buffet closed over the summer so i'm dying for some spaetzel and wursts, LOL!

being near six flags is good. but it gets too crowded there to enjoy it. i worked there one summer and that was cool. but they soooo have their goals set on being the next WDW - they even say that in orientation, lol!

That is so funny. I can't imagine my dad talking in DIS-speak.
Your luck at the 7month window is nothing short of inspirational to a new SSR owner like me.

lol he is too funny! i'll send him some thread pages that i think he will like and he'll call and be like "what is ToT?, what is CR?" for the ones he doesn't know. so when he did that B...C...V.... thing i was cracking up!

Congratualtions! I also booked the BCV at 7 months, though I did wait until I could book the whole reservation at once. I am there in a studio 8/12-17, moving to POR on the 17th for the free dining plan we booked in December, and then on to OKW 2 bdrm from 8/26-31 (as soon as I book that one). It's our long August vacation and the longest I've ever taken :)

congrats to you too :goodvibes it sounds like you will have a great long vacation!! we were originally going to do the 6 nights, which i booked all at once. then my mom decided since the rest of my family wasn't coming to add the other 2 days. it was so stressful doing those 2 last days "day by day", i don't think i could do a whole vacation like that. :sad2: i would get a busy signal and get my adrenalin pumping thinking i would miss those last 2 days  it looks like a lot of us will be there at the same time.... i have a feeling SAB will be a bit crowded  anyone have any great dinner recommendations they'd like to share? :cutie:

This is all very encouraging news for me. I am planning on trying to book BCV or BWV at 7mo for a November stay. I didn't think it would be possible during food and wine, but I'm starting to feel less skeptical. Glad to hear you are all getting the places you want. Keep your fingers crossed for me :shamrock:

IMO if you call the first week the 7 mth window opens you will be ok.

THe problem isn't the 7 mth window, the "problem" with the system, is now a BC/BW/VW owner who calls at 6 mths to get into their resort will seldom be able to.

There was no way for a BW/BC/VW owner who bought 8 years ago to know that in 2007, the majority of DVC owners would own at a resort that was not their number one choice for booking rooms.

The "rules" changed when DVC went the direction of mega sized resorts, that were not in the prime locations.

Oh well, all things change I guess, and who knows maybe someday DVC will tweak the system in such a fashion that the people who own at the smaller more popular resorts will only be able to stay at those, and no one else will be able to stay at them.

Well, I hope that never happens!! Although, I do love my SSR so that would be ok too! but it is crazy because you are right...you must call in your window to ensure a spot even if you are an owner at the small ones.

Soon enough everyone will be trying to get into AKL and the Contemporary. I think these 2 will pull some of the pressure off of WL, BV, and BW.

I enjoy staying at new places, hopefully I can have the success of the OP. :goodvibes

Congrats OP and enjoy your trip!!

Debbie

thank you! i'm still on my disney high! :cool1: and i agree that i think the AKV and possible CR will ease the pressure of the others. and that's the whole point of buying into DVC and not a typical "timeshare". to have that constant ability to change and various themes, etc. :beach: i know it's why i joined:thumbsup2

Well if you look at nearby Marriott's example... they have 6 resorts in Orlando. The first three are in the World Center and are smaller, aka BCV/BWV/VWL style. Then they built three newer ones: Cypress Harbour (similar to OKW), Horizons (like SSR-lite) and Grande Vista. Grande Vista is the largest Marriott resort with somethng like 1500 rooms.

You could always get availability at the larger resorts, sometimes up to check-in day. The older, smaller ones started showing up for availability in the last couple years as GV neared completion. The only one that's hard to get is the one with only 3 bedroom units.

I had hoped to try all the resorts eventually. My only concern for BCV is that it's so small the number of accessible rooms is tiny. I could have gotten a room last December at 7 months, if I wanted forgo a shower.:scared:

i think they should add a few more hundred villas to the beach club, i'm sure that would be a goldmine!! i'd be adding on for that!

I am a new SSR owner and have my first trip booked for May. I am really hoping to get BCV for September 9th-16. Are studios harder to get, or doesn't it matter?

Let's hope.

How many post of "I am a new SSR owner, and my first trip will be at BC/BW/WVL", for people to figure out the system is flawed.

I booked our first trip to SSR for the first weekend in May, DH put us on the waitlist for a 2br for BCV or VWL in late December(nothing was available when he called) The waitlist came though last Sat. for VWL.

So are you saying that 2br at VWL should have sat there until a VWL resort owner decided to go?

I have stayed at SSR on cash and that's why we bought there, we just want to try out the other resorts(thought early May wouldn't offend any owners, instead of trying for Thanksgiving) as we probably will want to add on some points in the future.

No not at all, you should stay where ever you want to, when ever you are able to get the reservations. If you are able to snag Christmas week at the BC, props to you, and have a glass of wine for me.

What I am saying is that it is unfortunate that WDW has built a DVC who's owners often do not view as their #1 #2 or even #3 choice.

It's wrong in my eyes, to build resort A, and sell it on the merits of staying at resorts b,c,& d.

I think your perceptions may change someday if WDW builds a 4500 room resort 30 miles outside of Orlando, and sells it to new owners with the idea that they are able to book into SSR rooms that have a rack rate MUCH higher then what the new resorts rack rate is.

Enjoy your trip, I know you will have a wonderful time.

Our guide was very straightforward with us about the 7month window, that it isn't easy to get BCV/VWL/BWV(still trying to figure out the different views and why the one is more popular:confused3 ) or HHI,VB at certain if not all times of year and don't be afraid of the waitlist. To be honest I was kind of glad to see us get VWL, than BCV as we had planned this trip to be more MKcentric. Actually I was very surprised to see VWL come through.

Don't worry about me snagging BCV for Christmas as I highly doubt we will ever go at that time of year and if we do I'll be happy to get an SSR 2br in the Congress Park area!
