For my face......cost about the same as a good piece of glass though :)

DOH!!! Talk about a let down....

I got rid of my face glasses (save for sun glasses) 5 years ago with Lasik Surgery. One of the best things I've EVER done.

Me too around 6 or 7 years ago. It was all for the sake of vanity as I refused to wear bi-focals and am now content with OTC reading glasses.

... and with all the money I have saved from not needing prescription glasses :cutie: , I have put the money to better use with Canon L glass. :wishgoal

Next I am considering something lighter, fast, incredible range, with IS, all under $500....something like f/1.8 15mm-450mm IS USM ... and it's okay I will just wait for Canon, Tamron, Tokina, or Sigma to make my dreams come true.... :tinker:

I know a lot of people that have had it and are happy, but just the thought of it gives me the heebie jebies.... Lucky for me, I have been told numerous times that I am not even a good candidate for it with what I have wrong with my eyes.

me too, as my eye dr told me..."you'd be crazy to have it done" so i guess that was a no:rotfl: i only have vision in one eye so she told me not to even wear contacts anymore so stuck with trifocals which literally do cost as much as a consumer lens and not nearly as much fun to use:rotfl2:

I wore glasses/contacts from age 8 to 33. Lasik was really no big deal at all. I was actually suprised at how easy it was. The prep time was about 3 minutes for each eye. The actual procedure took 38 seconds in each eye. NO pain what so ever and the effect was immediate. I wasn't 20/20 right out of the room, but my vision was drastically improved immediately. I was legally blind without the use of contacts or glasses. I couldn't see clearly 8 inches away. Out of the room I could read a sign that was 12 feet down the hall. To get up to full 20/20 took about a week.

I do know that there are people who couldn't have had it done 3-8 years ago that now can have it done. The improvements they have made in the procedures are wonderful.

I had trouble wearing glasses for long periods of time. Even with the expensive glass that was supposed to be lighter and the super light frames I would get headaches after wearing them for 10+ hours. Contacts were starting to become a pain too, but at least no headaches. Just itchy and the constant blinking to get them to fit better was annoying.

I don't miss either of them at all.

I have a special type of astigmatism, where I am both near sited and far sited at the same time. So when you add that all together, it means poor candidate. I can't even get contacts that will correct my vision properly. But it isn't a big deal first thing I do in the morning is put on my glasses and the last thing I do at night is to take them off (most of the time I remember to take them off).

I think my problem with it, even if I was a candidate is one of my irrational fears is being blind, so I'm not even going to put myself in the possiblity of being that 1% that have a problem out of it.

I have worn glasses since I was 3, 31 now. I so want to get LASIK but just not an option right now....maybe with next years Tax return :) Figure if I do, I got a very nice pair of sunglasses yesterday and can convert them into regular sunglasses if need be.....
