My DH and I stayed at the Grand last Thursday and wanted something for breakfast Friday morning. La Brea opened at 8:00(wished it was earlier) and we got in line to order coffee and a bagel. After a few minutes of gawking at the prices, I told my husband that we needed to go.

I was not going to pay $3.00 for a simple cup of Joe and 4.50 for a scone! They were advertising a breakfast bagel that cost $9.50!

Now, I understand that one pays more when on vacation. I usually do not complain about prices in DL but I found this to be over the top. Am I crazy?

Yup, it's kind of expensive there. You can try Compass Books in Downtown Disney for something like, or Whitewater Snacks at the Grand Californian. If you're going to pay high prices for breakfast, might as well ask for room service.

You didn't miss much. There food is overpriced and not very good. You are better off picking up a pastry inside DL, or like Mary Jo said head to WWS.

No you are not out of line. Last Sept I got in line to order a sandwich, premade, the guy told me the price, I handed it back to him and left. I think I went to Jamba Juice or something but I did not buy that overpriced sandwich

We really like to make do until we can grab a breakfast at the Tomorrowland Terrace. That is our favorite!

You're not out of line at all...I made that mistake once and I'll never do it again! I felt like we were late for the park, so I decided to stop there for a quick breakfast...by the time we made it through the line, I could have gotten something that was half of the price....or double the amount of food for what I paid. I was reeeeaaaly disappointed. Not that the food was bad, just super expensive for what I paid.

Ugh! la Brea is crazy spendy for what they serve. Although, they do have good mac and cheese. I've paid the price for it when i've been SUPER hungry and nothing else was open.

You're not crazy at all. It costs so much to go to DLR as it is, you should save money any way you can while you're there (while still enjoying some great food and having a wonderful time, of course).

I agree with the posters here who suggested White Water Snacks. My bf and I went went there twice for breakfast during our recent trip to DLR. I got a bagel and my bf got the biscuit sandwich the first time. The sandwich was huge, and after I had a bite of it, I completely regretted getting my bagel. We saw someone else with the breakfast burrito and it was also huge, so we split that on another morning. Both were delicious and a reasonable price for the serving size. Each meal even comes with 2 strawberries. :goodvibes

If you want to eat inside the parks, River Belle Terrace is good.

Though I agree with it being incredibly over-priced, I remember I had something there that was pretty good tasting.

We really like to make do until we can grab a breakfast at the Tomorrowland Terrace. That is our favorite!
A family favorite here too. It's great to go in the morning and eat while watching Jedi Training Academy or just people. Plus, if you're done before your parents, you can sneak off to do Space Mountain ;)
Their food is reasonably priced for what it is and where you are.

This is good to know. I have never been there, wanted to but don't make it into downtown disney much. ( hate the security check with baby bags)
Now I know I would not be missing much but my $

I did have some wonderful Quiche there once taht didn't seem too expensive, but we usually do WWS (love that breakfast burritio!) and I heard that you can order a regular breakfast plate that isn't on the menu.

Thanks guys! Wow, Whitewater Snacks! I thought about it but for some reason only imagined it having hamburgers and other snack foods. I will have to try that next time as well as the Tomorrowland Terrace! Good tips!

We love Riverbelle and Tomorrowland Terrace for breakfast.. For $$ savings I prefer Tomorrowland Terrace because the breakfast meal comes with a drink. Nothing fancy, but just enough to get you thru the meal.

While I agree prices are absurd what should they do? The line is almost always very long even with the high prices. Obviosly theres a lot of people who feel it's worth it. If prices were lower then people would complain about the massive out of control line! For me and many others we go elsewhere as I don't see why so many like la Brea enough to pay the high prices.

We ate a late dinner here once, we wanted to go to Storyteller's but DDthen8now9 nixed it, she doesn't like the smokey smell inside Storytellers (which isn't bad but she's uber sensitive due to our house fire a few years ago) anyway, we went to La Brea because that was just about the only thing open. I had a baked potato that was a standard potato and I paid like $7 for it!!! A lot of people pay the prices because they need their morning coffee but we won't go back because we don't have that problem. lol We don't drink coffee at all. My point is, it's not our favorite place either, in fact it's almost like a last resort place......

I found that it was almost impossible to get an unsweetened iced tea anywhere. Due to some stomach issues, I can't have carbonation and I avoid sugar. I drink a lot of water/Crystal Light types of things but sometimes I don't want something sweet but am sick of water. La Brea had amazing iced tea - I won't lie - but I nearly passed out when they told me the price. Wow.

We ate at LaBrea on our trip last summer. In fact it was the first meal we ate when we got there, and I thought.. are you kidding me? The breakfast, while it did have large portions, was not very good. I would have been happier with Denny's. The price was outrageous! We did not eat there again and will not again. True to previous posts, they are always busy. All of the patio seats were taken we had to sit inside at one of the few tables they had and it was awkward b/c it felt like we were in the way of the waiters. Maybe it is the pleasant outdoor seating that attracts people. I dunno!:confused3 I do know I will not be back! We found Compass later in the trip and it was much cheaper. We will likely hit them up for a quick breakfast this trip! I liked everything we purchased there.

I paid about $25 for 3 cinnamon rolls and 3 small cartons of milk. The cinnamon rolls were hard as rocks and tasteless.

Do not go to the La Brea bakery!
