Hi, all i'm new here and planning first trip with me, dh and dd1 - 5 and dd2 - 3 next march. I want to book this week but keep putting it off because i have got myself confused about food and half board! silly i know

I am trying to work out what you get for half board - re eating in restaurants or is it better to buy from less expensive places when we are there. My eldest is not a huge eater and a little fussy with some things so can't imagine paying £20 for a meal for her to push around the plate and just eat the carrots!!

What tips can you give me - feeling desperate now and under pressure to book. Obviously we need to eat but would rather eat cheaply most of the time and then book a character dinner or breakfast - which is best? i did read about the disney princess restaurant and thought that sounded good but expensive - is it better to eat bread and chips all week and do that!!!

any direction would be good so i can crack on and book!!

thanks in advance

If it's just half board that's worrying you, then you could always book your trip without the half board, then phone them to add it at a later date...

If you want to do things cheaply, I'd recommend not booking the character breakfast - you get breakfast included in your hotel anyway (although there are no characters).

Hi busnae,
Elaine, Jackie, Elaine and Reid welcome you to the DLP DIS board :flower3:

We are a friendly bunch here so please join in on any other thread or if you have a number of questions then just start a new thread for each

If you have not had a look yet, DLP posting rules are here

If worrying about the meals, restaurants etc is stopping you booking your trip, just forget about half board options just now. As UKstitch has already said, you can add half board to your booking later - as late as a few days before you go :thumbsup2 .

i think the half board option is great for those without small kids tbh, or at least those with kids who dont eat that much. i would have a look at the different restaraunts on dlrp food guide, a bit out of date but will give you and idea. if you think you are planning to eat at a lot of table service restaraunts then you can add it later.

thanks everyone - am sooooo excited am going to book tomorrow.

Decided that will just book without HB and then depending on how much is in the pot, if my fussy dd1's eating habits change and after reading all the reviews will book if need to just before we go.
will have loads more questions i am sure - just about breakfasts etc but will wait til have done more reading!

thanks again, what a great site :cheer2:

That's exactly what I've done, booked our hotel/ticket package and checked that I can add HB nearer the time, my balance has to be paid on the 11th January, talk about bad timing, but I'm pretty sure that it's been mentioned on here that you can add HB upto 2 days before you arrive. Perhaps someone else can clarify this, that being the case I'm thinking I can add it nearer to our departure and not have to find the money for that in Jan too.
In the meantime I shall be Ebaying like my life depends on it. :rotfl:

Thats right Jill, you don't have to add your HB options to your booking until just before you go if you like.
