I got my Happiest Celebration on Earth planning DVD yesterday. Funny thing, though, I've already been planning for a couple months! I haven't watched it yet, I want to be able to watch it all at once without interruptions.

:cheer2:

I'm in exactly the same boat. Been planning and reading for a long time, have booked our condo for the trip. I just watched the DVD yesterday for the first time (without the kids because we are not going until X-mas.) I was not impressed with the DVD. I would have appreciated a more straightforward presentation of the parks. I found the "guides" pretty obnoxious and don't think they should have tried so hard to appeal to all age groups. Is there any DVD/videos of just good footage showing the parks, rides....? I wanted something to eventually prepare my kids for the trip and I don't think this will do much good.

Erin, I dont mind...and the relaxation guy Dave is pretty funny. But the other two arent very necessary especially the HANG TEN SURFS UP DUDE...god he's so annoying, and i'd feel like an idiot if I had to sit next to him on a ride while listening to him scream GNARLY DUDE COWABUNGA...jeebus.

I agree with chris, the info they give is pretty redundent, they should have given a better and straightforward presentation...and there was a HUGE lack of info when it came to the resorts...they barely touch base on them. i could easily be sold on the resorts a lone if they mentioned all the things you can do.

My favorite is those Travel Channel specials on WDW!!

Has anyone even opened up the CD for planning for the computer? I keep forgeting it - I'm trying to keep it a "secret" too!!

edited to add:

Chris - I don't know how old your children are, but when we were planning to take my nephew who was 2 at the time, we watched the Disney videos that are "park-based". I think the one we watched the most was actually Disneyland, but it gave him an idea of the parks and characters. He did great on that trip. He wasn't afraid of the characters at all.

I also enjoy the shows on the Travel Channel. I try to catch them when I know they're coming up.

I, like many of you, started my planning process at the time I ordered the planning DVD. By the time it came, I already had a lot of the planning done but expected some data and detailed information to help me finish my planning. Then the DVD came and with a great deal of excitement I sat down to watch. What a huge disappointment. Just a long Disney commercial. No specific information what so ever. Even the computer CD was worthless. No more information than what is available on the Official Disney Website (OK maybe a few pictures). I was expecting operation schedules, transportation schedules, show schedules, maps, menus, etc.. You know, the kind of stuff you need when you plan. Silly me for expecting this kind of information from a "planning kit."
I really don't understand why Disney is so reluctant to give out real information. If we all had to rely on Disney, instead of websites like this one, I don't see how we could possibly development a viable vacation plan.

I agree that the Disney DVD was not very helpful, and not what I expected. I was so looking forward to it, and hoped it would be fun for my DS to watch as well. My DH and I practically got dizzy trying to watch as they jumped from one scene to another at lightning speed! And while it was nice to go through the resort overview sections, there was not too much that you don't see on the website. And the CD mostly just linked you back to their website.

I found a couple of older Disney Planning Videos at nearby libraries that I reserved and borrowed - one was great and another was more geared for adults. I also found one Disney Sing-Along-Songs video - Disneyland Fun (saw others recommending it) - at the library that I borrowed for DS to watch. Anyone know where similar types might be able to be purchased?
