Now I'm getting excited again! I got my big travel-planning packet in the mail! I'm trying to go to Paris for my 30th birthday in September. Unfortunately, they haven't distributed the packet specific for those dates yet. But, I thought I'd get an idea by getting this year's brochures. The plan was to only spend one day since my friend isn't a big Disney fan (she's tolerating one day at DL for my sake). But after looking through this, maybe I should stay an extra few days just to see Disneyland and the Studios. But then, I really SHOULD see France while I'm there, since I "can see all that right here in FL," as everyone says. ARGH! I guess I'll just have to work my butt off so I can justify spending more time over there.

Does anyone have recommendations on hotels at DLP or Paris in general? I was really hoping to stay at the Disneyland Hotel, but it STARTS at $302, when the next highest Disney hotel starts at $211. And I hate to spend just one night in a hotel; I like to stay at least 2 so I can have at least one full day where I don't feel like I'm being rushed.

Now I'm going to be reading this booklet all night! So much for trying to be productive :)

PARIS ????? Wow! I'm lucky if I can even get down to Florida once every 15 years or so..

Do they have different things in Disneyland Paris than they do at WDW here? Are things set up the same - like Epcot, Animal Kingdom, MGM, etc., or is it entirely different?

I sure hope you can get to go.. Do it NOW - while you're young.. Later on in life too many other things will get in your way..

That is SO exciting!! :)

Jen, if you go to paris you have to visit Sacre Coeur at night. It is so....beautifull!!! There is a fondue shop there that ROCKS!!!! YOU HAVE TO GO!!!!!

Yes, you really SHOULD see France while you're there. :) Its an amazing country.

No advice on DLP though, sorry.

We were there a couple years ago and we stayed at a place pretty close to DLP. It was a very short drive to the park and we found it to be quite nice.

We visited friends who lived in Germany and we drove to Paris one morning and went to DLP in the afternoon. The next day, we took the train right there at the Disney Village and headed into Paris to do some sightseeing. The next day, we went to DLP in the morning and headed back to Germany that afternoon.

We like Sequoia Lodge best. We had a look round all but the two value ones and will definitely stay there again next time we go. There are loads of cheap hotels around that area - I did a search and found a lot of info. Don't know what they're like though as DH wants on-site or nothing!
Of the two values, the Cheyenne is the better one by far according to a few friends.
Have you posted on the UK CB? There are a lot of DLP experts there.
Hope that helps!

... you'd be welcome to put your questions on DLP on the UK Trip planning :) - also, do search for past threads on the UK boards as there are many threads discussing the hotels and the parks there. The Magic Kingdom is wonderful and if the park is open late when you are there, you should see it at night - particularly Adventureland..... so I would recommend staying at one of the DLP hotels. Another reason to stay at a DLP hotel is the opportunity to get into the park as early as you can - essential to beat the crowds. When are you going? The park operating hours and parades vary a great deal according to season.
The Sequoia and the New York are popular choices - I also like the Newport Bay. All these hotels are just a walk away from the park, passing through the Disney Village as you go.
The new Studios is not on a par with it's Florida cousin - it is much smaller and from all accounts, yet to reach it's potential (which is fairly typical of a new Disney theme park!), but the Magic Kingdom is, I think, more than worth your time!
Paris is a great city but I wouldn't recommend visiting DLP from the city, I'd stay there separately for the convenience......... I agree the Sacre Coeur is beautiful, and you can cruise down the River Seine, or just take a stroll beside the river, Notre Dame, the Marais district, Eiffel Tower, the Louvres, Champs Elysees...... lots to enjoy! Paris also has a good subway for getting around the city - the Metro.
Do check out the past threads on the UK Boards as well as posting new ones.

That sounds great, Doc!!!! What a nice trip you are looking at. :)

Also, just wanted to say what a great place the DIS is, what with all the information we have available to us with all the varied people who visit here from all over the world. Neat place. :sunny:

Where did you get your DLP information?

I've been trying to round some up for a while now.
Would I be better off stopping at a TA for some brochures?
Or is there somewhere online that I could request them???

TIA...

We were at DLP last July and I would recommend that you stay on site. We stayed at the Newport which was beautiful for two nights then we went to a hotel in Marne ( to save money) and buy the time we paid of our taxi there and back and our breakfast we could have stayed on site for the same price.
When you stay at one of the hotels on site your breakfast is included ( you can have it at the park or at the hotel) and you get ham, croissants, juice, ceral, yogurt, fresh fuit, coffee, and hot chocolate- all you can eat. In addition your park passes are included in the cost of the hotel. For two nights we received a three day pass.

The park itself is beautiful, but the studios is not worth the money. If I would have had to pay to see the Studios I would have been very upset.

You can also go on the Disneyland Paris site and get additional info. Hope this helps!

Louise

Thanks Dan-

The last time that I tried to order brochures from that site, they didn't send any to the U.S.
I'll be sure to try again now!!!

Thanks, everyone! I will definitely save this thread and search for others when I get serious about making plans. I got offered a job today, so as long as I don't quit or get fired, it looks like this trip is going to happen! Yea!!!!!

After looking through the brochure last night, I was reading about the 2-night/3-day-pass deal. And then I saw the one-day park ticket (no price mentioned anywhere in the book  ). But, what is the deal with the hotels? Can you not just pay to stay in a hotel without including the park tickets? I really only want to spend one day in the park, and that's not offered with the on-site deals, from what I see. They have one-night/two-day packages for off-site hotels, but I REALLY want to stay onsite! Maybe I will buy the package and only spend 1.5 days in the park or something, if I have to. My friend really won't be happy about spending more than one day in the park, and doesn't care about Disney hotels, so I will probably have to foot her bill too. Ugh. I've never been big on package deals, so this is confusing and annoying. I'm getting a taste of what it must feel like for first-time WDW visitors. Yikes! Hey, maybe I will wind up doing a couple of solo Disney days. But that means I would have to leave Disney for the end of my trip, and I was hoping to do it towards the middle. Oh well, at least I have a lot of time to plan. :teeth: :teeth: :teeth:
