Got downgraded at Vero

I like/agree with the dining credit route - that is cleaner from a points perspective and would still feel like a meaningful accommodation.

A dining credit would not be very useful to some people since Vero Beach's restaurants are closing/being renovated right now.

Dining/entertainment credit then? That could cover things like cost of chair/umbrella renting and other stuff at the resort that has value to the guest, but also low additional cost to the resort.

Something little, but very big here I noticed about the booking from the OP and Dean's comments... The OP said they booked an OVIR, an Ocean View Inn Room. This is not just an ocean view room, very different category. Anything other than OVIR would be a downgrade, unless you get a cottage! Unless, of course I missed something.

There are 2 options, either fan OVIR or a SVIR. Apparently they were given the later, given the difference in points, plus a significant amount of additional points. Even though some members don't understand it, there can be no guarantee of a view from a given room. I'm not sure where they stand now but before the Hurricanes a few years ago only about half the OVIR actually had a view of the ocean.
