Well after going back and forth for a couple days I built up my nerve and got Dolphin on Hotwire. I knew that was what it was but still almost got an ulser waiting for it to confirm. The prices I got was 95 for one of the nights and 99 for the other four. I'm actualy thinking about booking our few nights were going to spent at the ocean that way. I'm not realy set on any specific hotel for that. Now I just have to decide what beach. We're spending 15 nights in Flordia. 3 at the beach, 7 days at a disney hotel yet to be decided(POP or CBR), and 5 at the Dolphin.

Would you mine telling us the approxmiate dates (at least the month?)

Have a great trip!

Congratulations!!

Could you please also explain how you knew it was the Dolphin as opposed to the Hilton, etc. if you don't mind.

My reservations are for July 6th through July 11th. Dolphin shows up as 4 stars with these amenitys: restaurant, pool, fitness center, buisness center, golf nearby, tennis nearby and Laundry. Of course there is no garantee. I booked my last night and when it came up the Dolphin I booked the rest. I realy wanted to stay their but since were taking a 15 day trip it just wasn't in the budget. There are some posts on the budget board about Hotwire so you can check there for more info. I would also like to thank the others who posted about this. I'm so exited.

Thanks for the info.

I'm really tempted to try, but probably won't as I got a good rate already for the Dolphin for July.

I remember reading a lot about this in the past and was trying to find the one website that was linked in another thread (but couldn't) that listed the different hotels, star level, and amenities listed for each.

I thought/think the Hilton was exactly the same category and icons at the time?! So I wasn't willing to risk it.

But I just checked, and the dates I'm going July 11th - 16th the same icons that you got are coming up for $91 a night (GREAT RATE if it's the Dolphin/Swan!). very tempting.

Now I checked for "other nights" in different months and there are two other hotels coming up in the 4* category (in addition to the one you got).

The one you got: was Dolphin w/ 4* res/pool/fit/business/golf/tennis/laundry

Another one has: same except no business and no laundry

Another one has: same except has RESORT icon, and Spa icon, but NO laundry.

Just wondering if we could figure any of this out, or if it already has been.

I'd want to be ~99% sure I'd be getting the Dolphin before I'd try. I'd be saving ~$40 a night.

Stacy, thanks for your reply.

Brian, I understand your reluctance to bid. I would want to eliminate any surprises before I bid, too.

Welcome to the DIS!

Brian, I booked my last day before I booked the rest. I was realy nervouse but bidding just the one day first it didn't seem like such a risk. Somthing else to try is get a quote for flight and hotel together. They actualy list the names of the hotels their plus they list the amenitys an star rating. That gives you an idea of what hotels list what amenities. Thats how I originaly stumbled on to the Dolphin being on Hotwire.

I forgot to add in my other posts. I checked only the Disney World area when it asks what part of orlando.

That site will help you in figuring out what hotel it is

Thanks! That is the website I was thinking of but didn't know it by name.

It did confirm my thinking that what I'm looking at for my dates is the Dolphin. (not sure if I'll risk it though, since I already have the $129 rate, the savings vs. the slim chance of cancellation etc might not be worth it).

But Hotwire has been very beneficial to me. One example, is the Westin in Hilton Head. I knew 100% that it was the 4* with the Resort icon on Hotwire. On Westin's website they wanted $249 a night for my stay. GOt it on Hotwire for $79 a night.

I'm also playing with the idea of trying to get the Dolphin on Hotwire. It would only be for two nights before we move to the YC, and I already have the $129 Teacher rate. I've been watching and it went from $93 to $91, to $88, then back up to $91 and $93. I told my DH who said to go for it if it goes back to $88. Saving a total of $82 for two nights is a pretty decent temptation! We'll see what happens! princess:
