Got costume for MNSSHP & I look like a DORK!

We're going on the 12th and all of us are wearing costumes. I'm still working on them. Son will be Sorcerer's Apprentice, Husband will be Sorcerer. I'm still working on mine, maybe Briar Rose type clothes or something on that order. Nothing too hot since I'm sure I'll be hot.

When we went seven years ago, we were Minnie, Mickey and Little Mickey. It was great.

go for it man, in WDW everyone is forever a kid!!! enjoy and have a great time!!!!

I drove up to Arbor Place mall in Douglasville on Monday to check out the kids costumes at that Disney Store. Ours closed last year. I saw the halloween t shirts. If I'm not mistaken they were like $12 for the adult sizes. I may be mistaken. They looked okay, nothing special. I bought a cute long sleeved t shirt with embroidered jack o lanterns and a matching thicker cotton jacket with embossed halloween stuff on it at Goody's for a total of about $45 last week. They had other stuff like that as well. Goody's and Steinmart also had adorable sequinned Halloween mercurized cotton sweaters (nice quality) for around $25. They looked as if they ran on the small size. Saw the same exact ones in Parisian for ~$60!  Just some options. I also picked up long sleeved Halloween t shirts for me at Old Navy for $5 each. Looks like you'll be there before us, enjoy youtrself and stay safe!

I laughed so hard because it was too cute! I always ask myself "Will these people ever see me again?" Just go and have fun and dont worry so much about how many others will be in costume. Afterall Disney is the safest place to act like a child.
Have fun and wear the Alice costume
We're sending you some pixie dust full of courage from Canada!

Go for it! I'm sure you will look great and you'll make some great memories with your family!

We went last year with a group of 25 people. All the kids dressed up and none of the adults. I was bummed! I really wanted for us to dress up! :( My kids went as Tink and Wendy and one of our friend's kid was Captain Hook. I think we also had a Peter Pan in the group as well. It would have been fun for the adults to dress up as the lost boys. :p

Lots of adults dressed up at the party though! I regret not pushing it for the adults to dress up and if we ever go back in October, I'll make sure we do.

I hope that you decide to dress as Alice. I'm sure you'll look great!
:wave2:

Robin, so Old Navy had adult sizes in the Halloween T-shirts? I might go check that out.

MIL said she would hem the dress for me. I'm gonna see if she can shrink the collar down a tad, too.

Hubby is being adamant. I think he likes to draw attention to himself!

With our PSs so early we'll have to walk thru the MK in our costumes a couple hours before the party. I don't see why he won't change after dinner.

I'm just seeing us leaving OKW around 4:30 dressed up. Oh, my what have I got myself into?!? Hubby would have never have known if I hadn't opened my big mouth...

I think you will regret it if you don't dress up. A couple years ago after already making our plane reservations, I found out there was a party on our first night so we bought tickets. I was going to be Cruella and my DD was a dalmation - it was going to be very cute!

Well, our plane was delayed and we didn't get to VWL until almost 9:30 (party was 7:00 - midnight). We ran in the nearest restroom and threw on our costumes, dropped our luggage with bell services, and got to party about 10:00.

We got there just in time for the late parade. Cruella saw us and came over and said to me "Dahling, you must do something with that hair." I later caught a glimpse of myself in a mirror -- my black and white Cruella wig was kind of sideways and a mess and my makeup was all smeared!! I looked like a mess.

BUT we had the best time in those two hours that we made plans to go to MNSSHP twice last year and we're going two times this year as well.

Don't worry about what other people think -- go with that old adage - I'll never see them again!!

Dress up and have fun!

Wear it! We will be there on the 3rd too so I will be on the look out for a dorky Alice. You won't be the only dork. My mom who is 66, and I, 42, are going as aging cheerleaders. I had shirts made for us and bought the pom poms last week. We are definitely not shaped like cheerleaders but we are going to have a blast just the same. Who cares what others think! Go have fun!

Shan, our PS' are for 5:40 at O'hana. DH says "heck no" to dressing up. I told him that I'd seen POTC adult shirts at Disney store. Nope. The Old Navy ones aren't bad, plain Jane, 1 pumpkin with old navy written below or above it. Long sleeves. The stuff at Stein Mart and Goody's is a lot cuter. I remember one of the mercurized cotton sweaters was black with a scarecrow done in sequins. Think it was by sweaterworks. It was $25 at steinmart, $55or $60 at Parisian. Tomorrow we're off to Birmingham so Dh can go to an airshow and girls and I can hit the Galleria. Disney store there, only one in that town! If we come up wmpty I'll head your way on Sunday either back to that Arbor Place Mall or Mall of GA. Wish me luck!

Wear it!!!!!!! We will be there on the 3rd and also the 8th..we will all be dressing as Mickey and Minnie..I can't wait to see my husband in his costume!!!!!! His brother and sister in law will also be dressing in costume. Don't worry about what anyone else thinks..just HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!! I know we will!!!!!::yes:: :teeth:

Oh I'm jealous! I wanted to be Alice last year! I say wear it and have fun! You will get a lot of attention I'm sure, especially with your hubby being the Mad Hatter.

I'm posting a pic from two years ago when I dressed up as Mulan (not sure why my teeth look like that though LOL :D...really bad scan!) . I remember no adults on the bus to the MK were dressed up and I felt like an idiot. I had fun though :)

I am still waiting for the costume I ordered and I fear that I will look like a dork also. ::::::::Sigh::::::::

I agree a photo would help <grin>

Dress up! Alice would be great, and DH as Mad Hatter...that's gotta be the cutest! It would look great for the photos! Have fun...and enjoy yourself!

DH and I will be there on the 17th and we can't wait! Although we said we want to dress up, we STILL HAVE YET to decide and/or try on costumes. But we WILL dress up...it's all a part of the WDW fun!!! :p
ENJOY!!!

::PS...any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated! ;) ::

I'm going the 3rd with my mother and I thought we should dress up, but she thought it would be dorky so instead we compromised. Today I bought some halloween t-shirts at the Disney store they are gray and on the front have three small halloween themed items in black with mouse ears. There is a bat with mouse ears on it a pumpkin with mouse ears on it and one other thing, which I can't recall. I just bought them today for $16.50 a piece so hopefully, mother likes them if not we will find something else. Most of the halloween stuff I can find in MN is long-sleeve which I'm guessing won't work in FL at this time of the year.

Wear your costume!!!!!!!!!

I promise that once you get to MK you will be caught up in the "spirit" of Halloween..... you just can't help it once you see the decorations, hear the music, and become part of the crowd!!

Afterall, this is why everyone will be there.....to have FUN and be silly and dress up and see what everyone else is wearing.

Yes, you'll see folks wearing T-shirts; but the ones with the costumes will make you SMILE!

Dress up..... HAVE FUN!!!!!

Go for it! I went as a PotC in '99 & had a BLAST! There were lots of adults dressed up, some in very elaborate & wonderful costumes. My DS (who was also a Pirate) & I had a sword fight with the CM's at PotC, battling for the Lost Gold.

This year I have no plans to dress up (it's a girls trip with a friend).

Kevin and I went dressed up as Prince Phillip and Princess Aurora two years ago...one of the earlier parties, I think.

Anyway, we also had an early dinner PS at LTT, and I felt like such a dork walking out of AKL dressed up. I still felt silly on the ferry over to MK, but there was something about walking into the MK that made me feel better. It's a magical place!!!

As the night progressed, we saw more and more adults dressed up. Other than my poor choice in shoes, it was a fantastic evening!

We're dressing up again this year...this time, Kevin will be Prince Charming, I'll be Cinderella, and our baby daughter is going to be a precious little white mouse. We can't wait!!!

OK, I think I'm gonna have MIL shorten it a tad, maybe change the collar.
Hubby is pretty adamant about wearing his costume.
I'm still gonna go today and see about T-shirts just in case.
Any thoughts about what I should do with the early PS at LTT at 5:15? We'll have to leave OKW rather early. Would you just go ahead and go in costume and suck up the stares or would you change after dinner? Hubby doesn't want to change.

And about the theory that nobody will know me...
It will be interesting to see how many DISers come up to me - Oh, Alice!!! ;) Plus, I was planning on meeting a fellow DISer that night. I've already warned her I look like a dork in the costume. Really I can't describe it any better - DORK. I know I keep using that adjective, but it just fits.

What have I gotten myself into?!? I really feel rather Amish in it, I hope people realize I'm Alice!
 Plus, it is not very slimming. I think it added about twenty pounds on me.

hey all,
last time i went to the halloween party i was down there solo but i was all about wanting to wear my costume (tigger)i brought it down with me and everything... i spent the day in the parks and went back to the hotel to change and grab a quick dinner.... when i was walking back to my room from the commisarry i saw tons of kids in costumes but no adults.. so i chickened out wearing my tigger suit... but when i got to the park everyone was in costume even some of my old Cms were askin where my costume was cause i had told them that i was gunna wear it... i felt so bad i wished i could have gone back in time and talked my self back into wearing it i still had a great time regardless but i still kick my self for not having the guts to be daring
so i say do what you feel is right but remember every other adult will be thinking they look like dorks as well but dont be the dork that chickens out it jsut adds a little more excitement to the mix

I hope that was some what inspiring... or at least entertain to see me ramble like i do...
Have tons of fun and dont miss the headless horsemens run its so cool to see the sparks fly from the hooves...

also heres a tip if you are leaving the park before the party starts and go back to the TTC take the resort monorail while ever one else is in line for the express it may save you some time in the long run
Thanks every one
